Everyone bitches about going to the DMV around here... I have been there a lot and never had any problems, or lines. The people working are always nice and get the job done fast.
I dont see where the DMV is bad

because 78 year old women who are constantly on their period
All of you who thought I was crazy thinking my control arm was all up in my wheel well liner's business can suck it
I looked at it again today... and they mounted the liner all kinds of wrong. It's under the fender. It's not flush with anything. a couple of the mount points have no bolts in the holes.
Engine is on the stand, finally. Went and bought some bolts, ($20 worth for 8 bolts) then when we went to take the pan off, my dad broke 2 heads off the oil pan bolts. He gave up, so I have to wait till tomorrow to get the pan off now.
240's are the new Teggies and Civs.
Also, ARP sent Atomic Speedware the bolts and studs. Mr. Arias himself hand-picking them for packaging right now. Should be here tomorrow or wednesday.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE so excited
If you are so worried, park your car sideway with the wheel turned toward your house/garage.
it will make loading onto a flatbed MUCH MUCH harder. park a car perpendicular to your 240's and it'll be impossible to steal.
that is, if your driveway allow you to.

That's some sound advice! Luckily for me, Focus's don't seem to be a "hot" car around my area lol
What is the best brand of air filter? Also, should I go paper, cloth, or foam?
heavily considering spending ~2 hunnid dolla and getting a thermostat setup for the Bug..
I can get an all new OEM german-style thermostat and nice re-man'd + powder coated flaps and all the hardware and everything for like $250 shipped.
according to my CHT gauge, my heads do run just this side of "oh shit that's too hot" so the thermostat flaps, which help direct the air to favor the heads (which need more cooling) rather than the cylinders (which don't need nearly as much cooling) would definitely be good, plus the thermostat itself would make warm up time considerably shorter, especially during winter.
i would have to pull the engine, but especially for me that's quite simple - just pull off the rear bumper (held on with a couple pins), get a jack under the engine, pull like 3 wires, undo a handful of bolts and pull the engine off the transmission. voila, you're now free to.. go nowhere because you don't have a fuckin' engine in the car.
but $250 is a lot of money, waaaahhhh. it would be kinda cool to pull the engine, though - partially for the experience and partially so i can sneak a peek at what's goin' on under her dress, so to speak.
..then again if i save up another couple weeks i can spend $7-800 and get a set of dual 2 barrel Dellorto carburetors and gain a whopping <10 hp!1!111
i need to stop looking at aircooled parts and day-dreaming until i actually have money to day dream with :v:..

I'm running a K&N cone filter, they are quite nice.
On topic of Theft of a Vehicle.
Buy RFID equipment.
Wait for some one with a Toyota to lock there car. (Mainly Prius's)
Copy that RFID thingy, tell car to crank.
Jump in car, drive to end of parking lot.
20 min later everyone calles into the police station saying there was is stolen, cops show up and its at the end of the parking lot with 25 other all parked nicely.
I mean, my k&n filter for my stock air box seems to do it's job. It's just an air filter, i don't think it makes much of a difference.
K&N is one of the best, so i've been told.
Unless you baby your car, just get a standard filter. The better ones are usually double the cost of a regular air filter

Speaking of gaining hp, I've seen an aftermarket cat converter that adds one hp :v:

If old car, just cut the cat off.
If old car, just cut the cat off.
Its the only way to get a really old car to sound like a truck when idling
Its the only way to get a really old car to sound like a truck when idling
Which is awesome. Either that or just eliminate mufflers and cats altogether and go with headers.
What are some simple mods that boost performance anyway?
If old car, just cut the cat off.
And suddenly emissions testing
sigh

My 88 had neither. I loved the smell of exhaust rolling out from underneath the front doors and the sounds of a mega-truck.

Good intake, headers, eliminate cats, depends if your car is carbed or fuel injected, if carbed, just get a new carb. Better fuel(higher octane). Lots of things you can do but for a lot of them you need to be able to pull some things apart.

'old car'
Talking old enough for those special license plates.
What are some simple mods that boost performance anyway?
Wouldn't consider these mods, but if you want better performance:
-Flame decals
-Use full synthetic oil
-K&N Air filter
-Flame decals
-Strip your car down to the basics v:v:v
-Did I mention flame decals?
thats like the leds in pc cases
blue lights make the pc colder
red lights make it faster
green lights are aliens

Go-fast stickers and go-fast stripes.
And we can't forget spinners, it's a common fact that they create a centrifugal force that accelerates the speed of your tires
I plan on painting my car red, then putting flame and lightning bolt decals on the sides. I also have a rather large spoiler. Is there anything else I would need?

And then what? Hes successfully a douche?? :v:
Oh, I almost forgot. I got a fart can for it too, I heard those help with the acceleration quite a bit.
