Ok so for 2500$ I am MAYBE able to get a 2001 vehicle that doesnt have 200k mi on it. Looking for something 4WD/AWD, good MPG (15+)

My cars rev limiter is at 7200rpm(redline starts at 6800), but the engine feels like it is really lean (going off of how a 2 stroke sounds when it's lean vs rich) and gutless after about 6700. It's like the valvetrain gets really loud and the engine 'power' sound gets quiet. Kinda sounds like a power saw soundtrack fades in. I'm not saying i think there is something wrong, i just find it interesting. It makes sense that the engine starts behaving this way near it's limit to me. The most i ever rev it to is usually around 6500rpm, because it's pretty much faster to shift at those rpm anyways. The only times i've gone higher was when i first got it.

The only times i've gone higher was when i first got it.[/QUOTE] It sounds to me that your ECU has a multi-stage rev limiter that first attempts to limit revs by cutting fuel supply, then starts cutting the spark. Either that or you have some valve float, but given that it's above the redline on your tach and you don't regularly rev it to that point it's not anything to worry about.
It's probably valve float.

The ol' stocker runs out of go at around ~5800 IIRC, after that it's downhill, you REALLY start to feel it around redline though. It happens.
I never understood why people would rev to the limiter with engines that make all of their torque/power in the lower-mid range of the powerband. this is like taking my 7mgte that make it max torque at 3.5k, max hp at 5.5k, power fall flat at 5.8k and then rev it to the stock limiter (6.75k) only increasing wear, risking valve float and making my pistonts see incredible speed (longstroke ftl)
Well in my case, my car makes max hp at 6100rpm, and max torque at 4500rpm (says the wiki), so revving to 6500rpm puts me right back in the power when i change gears. It's a different story in my brothers jetta 4cyl, it's all bottom end power.

Ok Ill try and organize this properly. For months now my Jeep has had this fuel issue, at least I think. My car has a rough idle that happens like 75% of the time. All of these problems are never fully consistent but happen frequently. My exhaust chuggs at idle, like it booms out of the tail pipe but not a back fire. When I accelerate, sometimes my car will shake and almost every single time, at the same place, from 45 to 55, my car violently shakes but if I really stomp on the pedal, it'll stop. I also smell what you smell from fireworks when it chugs at idle. It's been really pissing me off. I've changed the fuel filter, checked the cataitlyic converter and that's not it so now I believe the fuel injectors but I really don't know.
If it's happening, try unplugging the injectors one at a time while it's running. If one doesn't change anything then there you go.

redline at 11k? <--doesn't shift until 14k
Anyone ever had their car fucked with? My mate a few doors down with a pretty nice 200SX had his wing mirror kicked off last night. He's a sound guy with no enemies so it was just some twat doing it out of spite. Kinda puts me off buying something that's gonna draw attention next. Luckily my car's down the drive but still in pretty clear view. Not the first time it's happened, the FTO just round the corner had the windscreen smashed in a few months back.

I've "fucked" with cars before.
