I've done like 6 handbrake drifts today (It's been very rainy, so i imagine it hasn't been too hard on my tires.) I wish they made honda civics rwd, i'd probably take every corner with opposite lock(not really, but still.)
I've slammed on my brakes in my truck before, it's terrifying. No abs, all four wheels locked up, means that you're going to plow into whatever's in front of you, and you're too shocked to let off the brakes most times.
The driver locking up is a bigger issue than the tires locking up IMO. ABS allows you to firewall the brakes and maintain some semblance of steering control, but most people just freeze and run into whatever they're pointed at, ABS or not.
The solution, I think, is a lot more education on how to drive quickly. Race drivers rarely do that, they tend to keep their wits about them much better when the car's on the edge of control, and they have a lot of high-speed driver's ed that most civvies lack. Maybe even making it a requirement to renewing your license to take your car down to a race track once a year and flog the piss out of it in relative safety, alongside the instruction of an experienced driver?

Save it for a closed course before you make someone trigger their ABS trying to avoid a wildly fishtailing sedan.
He doesn't have a sedan >_>
I don't think it matters when it's wildly fishtailing out of control into oncoming traffic.
implying he's doing it on populated roads.... This is Oklahoma. Tons of back roads and shit. He's fine.
Aspiring to be a buyer of a sans ABS 80's car, I was wondering, are there any aftermarket ABS systems out there?
So, I guess the answers no?

It just takes one unexpected car. It doesn't need to be a populated road.
I have no respect for people who do that kind of stuff on open, public highways. Closed courses exist for a reason. Don't endanger the rest of us to get a few cheap thrills.
I'm going no faster than 20mph, and i always make sure the street is clear before i pull my handbrake. I don't fly into the corner blindly, and don't do it on blind corners period.
Also, it doesn't hurt to practice controlling a sliding car in case of a real emergency.

Stop being such a fucking tight ass, christ. Every post I've ever seen you make here has been like this, always criticizing other people and acting like you know all. It's getting to be a bit old dude.

I myself had my FC sideways around 4 or 5 different turns from the snow today alone, and that wasn't even on purpose. Did i get in a wreck? No, i didn't, and i know how to handle her well enough to not spin out and endanger other people, too. So calm your shit, the high and mighty act is, like i said, getting really old.

Don't see how I'm driving everyone elses insurance up because i drift around a couple corners? Edit: On ACCIDENT?
And that doesn't defeat the fact that you spend more time around here calling people out and talking shit than you actually do discussing cars.
Ok, fine. Whatever. You guys have fun driving everyone else's insurance rates up.
I didn't know insurances went up by someone having fun in a place he judged safe for it. Don't you think other people have judgement too?
Hey wolves, sorry man but..Your insurance rates are about to go up. I just crunched my car going up the deserted mountain pass at 1 AM. Don't hate me bro. I don't know what happened...
[editline]dh[/editline]
I know I'm just being a dick now but come on...I don't think I've ever seen you make at least a halfway decent post, they've all been completely unnecessary posts filled with you patronizing and criticizing everyone else, acting like you're better than everyone and know what's best...
I don't care anymore. You guys do whatever the god damn fuck you want to.
I'm going to Steelport for a bit. When I get done smacking virtual hookers with a virtual dildo I expect the matter to be dropped entirely. By all parties, not just myself. Which means EVERYONE stops posting about it and pretends I never said a fucking thing, capiche?
Oh man, I hate you, you could have killed someone oh god, what in the hell were you thinking!? I have to pay because of your blind idiocy!
/:v:
Careful, I heard drifting in the street of Steelport was a punishable offence, think of all those hookers or mascots!

My camera phone doesn't really focus that well at night time. Her horn was laying in the road so i grabbed it as a souvenir.
[t]http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/6236/wp000905.jpg[/t]
Atleast, i think it's a horn. If i plug a battery between those two screws, will it make sound?
It's a horn bro. Hook car battery up. Big noise.
:v:
Good doggie!
You can change them, but you can't pack them with grease.
That's what servicing a bearing means -- check it for wear, repack it with grease, reinstall. You have a sealed bearing, you have to replace the entire unit. Sealed bearings are non-serviceable.
I see...
but why would you service a part, that costs like nothing to replace, :v: ?
