What you get for buying a saturn :)
Well garage will charge quite a bit. Is it the rear or front brake line? Master-cylinder? If you know. The stainless piping used in some part of the brake line is about 0,14$ a foot and the fittings are about 3$ each, the hoses in the front calipers are about 20-50$.
idk about that part he just said the brake line. [editline]25th March 2012[/editline]
What you get for buying a saturn :)
my friend had a 240 his transmission broke it cost him 3000
idk about that part he just said the brake line.
Alright alright, if ever he gets to know if it's not a super hard job, brake lines and hoses are pretty inexpensive at Pieces d'auto Ste-Genevieve.
hah thats right across where i work
So you work at Equipement villeneuve or that sonerco ?
That's why I love my 1991 Mercedes 300CE. That thing doesn't have computers. I love that car, its so simple yet elegant.
Yes it does :v:
So you work at Equipement villeneuve or that sonerco ?
i never said which one tho there's like 4 of those
Yes it does :v:
Well yes but they are simple as fuck.
Well yes but they are simple as fuck.
Actually they are quite sophisticated on the Benz, even the OBD0 system on my '90 Civic is simple in comparison and it's fairly complex if you've ever read into the workings or had to remap fuel on a custom ROM. Heavy stuff. Compared to modern ECUs they aren't really that far behind. They don't lack much that modern ECUs can do, except for when you get into the newer stuff with traction control and whatnot.
Man, I had a close call last night. Driving with some friends in the car late at night in an unknown area, not paying enough attention and the stop sign has been run down (We found this out later) and I accidentally drove right through a busy road. I now drive the exact speed limit everywhere because damn, that was scary and I feel like a shitty driver now. [editline]25th March 2012[/editline]
idk about that part he just said the brake line. [editline]25th March 2012[/editline] my friend had a 240 his transmission broke it cost him 3000
He blew out his transmission and spent $3000 to get it fixed? What the fuuuuck? It's cheaper than that for my friend to get a 5 speed transmission put into his automatic Celsior (Import LS400). That seems unreasonably expensive to fix a 240 transmission. I'm looking on eBay and they can be had for anywhere from $200-$400. I think he got ripped off. Not to mention that $3000 can get a pretty decent 240SX here, so unless he had a beast of a 240SX (Swapped engine or a lot of work + turbo'd), would of been better off selling/parting and buying a new one.
Some cars safety systems do this when they detect a roll, maybe when you straightened it out it created enough Gs to make it think you were rolling, on your side or something? They should fix it, they might argue you shouldn't have slid in the first place?
Yeah, I was watching some video of a Nissan Xterra off roading, it slightly tilted and all the side airbags popped causing the driver to almost shit himself.
avoid accident in parking lot have to pay $100 to get new tire hooray
Cheaper than said accident would have been I'd assume
Well that's annoying. I was going to install the iSimple IS31 that finally arrived on Friday, though when my dad moved out a few months ago, he took most of the tools. The ratchet set that I found in the garage doesn't have a long enough extension to reach the bolts under the radio and I don't have a drill or bits to make a hole in one of the dash compartments to run a cable. I was hoping to get it out of the way when I had free time, though I likely need to shelve it until I (Hopefully) pass my G2 road test on the 16th. At that point, I could probably drive it to school, borrow some tools from the auto shop and get it done during lunch or a spare. While I have the dash off, I could probably get around to fixing the clock. After a Google search, it seems that the solder joints need to be touched up.
Speaking about tires, am i the only one who doesn't give a rats ass about ride comfort. I mean i don't want to feel every atom small bump but i don't care about running little bumps or mounds or uneven pavement. Don't care for tires that give me maximum comfort. Just want tires that grip the road like a pimp grippin his hoes

Honda Accord tranny was estimated 2.2k at the shop.
Going to go to a local Car Bashers (bucksautoparts.com) and see if I can find a dodge ram like mine with a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern and take all the nessecary parts from it to do the swap, maybe even look for a van and take the LCA so I can lower my truck. Going to look out for some interior panels and maybe a different rear bumper too, some big block parts would be nice but rare.
This is surprisingly nice sounding for a stock 1990's car stereo system

I don't want it to be race car hard unless it's a pure-bred race car that never sees public roads.
3 of us slept in my car for 6 hours and the moisture in the air caused the dashboard's on-board processor and the immobiliser to go nuts. Turned the key On the screen (From what I remember): "ENGINE TEMPERATURE, STOP ENGINE" (Erm, the engine aint even running) "ABS FAILURE" "OIL PRESSURE FAILURE" "IMMOBILISER FAULT" Engine management light on Indicators didn't work car wouldn't start (Due to immobiliser fault, I found it hard to believe that everything on my car broke at once, hah) Central locking iffy All sorts of beeping Left it for a few hours and it started up, still no speedometer (Everything is on an LCD display on this car), Indicators worked but the dash said they didn't (No clicking or flashing). When I got home (After using my phone as a speedometer with a downloaded app!) I took the digital dash out and put it in the warmest room of the house overnight. Car worked perfect the next morning. Amazing what hell a bit of moisture can cause, I was going to call the AA for recovery (I was 200 Miles from home)
:v: At least it doesn't go absolutely ape shit because it's below freezing out like mine does. 'Course my engine still runs when the dash goes nuts, but it still goes nuts.
New fangled cars and their iffy sensors and computerey shit. I prefer the kind of car where if it doesn't start, you crawl under it with a hammer and start hitting things.
Or just turn the key on, push it, dump the clutch, and drive on normally.
Man, drunk drivers are scary. Last night, starting to slow down for a red and it goes green, about to drive through and I see a Silver Civic Si not slowing down and then he just blasts through the red light, nearly shit my pants because if I was going any faster, wouldn't of been able to stop in time. Followed him and called the cops, noted his license plate, the area, and who was in the car and let the cops know. He was driving all over the road.

Just got off the phone with the dealer.....$4500 of damage, before getting into anything that may have caused the airbags to deploy. Insurance company is going to send out an appraiser, but they may total the car :(
So I've got called back for a job this summer, 13,17$ an hour for 38.75hrs a week, + 6,09$ a day for food, and the rent is free. Money for the car whoop whoop.

It's a 15-minute drive across the city. No matter where you are, you can pretty much walk home. If you drink and drive, AND THEN BLAST A RED LIGHT, you deserve to get nailed. Not to mention there was two people in the car and neither of them seemed to care/notice. Fuck. [editline]26th March 2012[/editline]
Just got off the phone with the dealer.....$4500 of damage, before getting into anything that may have caused the airbags to deploy. Insurance Companies hate old cars and tend to pull them off the roads as easily as possible. They like to insure new cars because insurance costs more for them, and they are safer because the highest cost for insurance agencies is personal injuries. An average car will cost around $2000-$30000 to fix/replace.. Missing limbs, loss of life, etc can never be fixed and in a court case, can cost up to millions of dollars.
Driving through a housing estate and I notice a guy come onto my road from a minor road. All normal at first, but he didnt turn enough and ended up hitting and mounting the curb at the other side of the road before getting back onto the road and continuing like nothing had happened. Needless to say I was dumbfounded
Aw yeah guess who just inherited his dad's 1972 Ford Pinto. YEAH
Here in the UK outside some schools we have little one-lane wide give way areas that force you to slow down. Now on one side of these there's a giant sign basically telling you "Give way to oncoming traffic" or "Oncoming traffic has priority". Approaching one of these at around 25MPH, I have priority so the woman on the other side should stop.... Should.... I now know what it feels like to have a car coming straight for you at a combined speed of roughly 45MPH. Yay for quick reactions. Completely unrelated. I want to build an alarm clock that is a small engine with an electric starter motor (Maybe I can get a strimmer engine and bodge a drill motor onto it) on a little wooden platform, basically when the alarm goes off the engine fires up and revs a bit, then shuts down :v: - Aside from the obvious filling the room full of toxic fumes I think it would be insanely cool... and loud. Would be cool if I could get some sort of 4-stroke engine that's small enough.
Aw yeah guess who just inherited his dad's 1972 Ford Pinto. YEAH
It's in a rough state now, but he said that we'll get it fixed up over the summer or sometime.
If i would have been in that situation, more than likely i would have continued head on and stopped right in front of them, waited a few seconds, and then pointed over to the sign stating I have the right-of-way. Bitch best move or we aint goin nowheres.
