it was in my trans all winter, pulled trans and engine, it's been in a closed bottle... way better than being in a trans for 10+ years (like the old that was in it when I bought the car)
Filter the shit out of it if you do... IMO I would not use it because the world does not make sufficient filters for me to fell safe.
Try putting it through an oil filter? v:v:v It would work I think, after all they're designed to filter out lots of things
Try putting it through an oil filter? v:v:v It would work I think, after all they're designed to filter out lots of things
Yea but for some things it would be like using paper for a filter..
Got to drive it for the first time today. So I took it to the carwash and to get some gas. The slightest bit of pedal makes it feel like the engine is trying to rip itself from the chassis and take off, leaving me sitting there in the seat like some sort of crazy cartoon. I have been babying it and still almost got it sideways pulling out of the carwash. Dat LSD/torque! I'm incredibly happy with it. Hell of a motor, hell of a car, still have some bugs to work out but it's getting there!
My friends got an 87 corvette and I definitely wouldnt call it scary powerful. Does yours have engine work?
My friends got an 87 corvette and I definitely wouldnt call it scary powerful. Does yours have engine work?
>my friend has a stock C4 >yours is slow -_- Yes, it has "engine work". It hasn't had a stock engine in it for a long time -- it had a Goodwrench crate engine before, but it developed a knock, I got it with the current engine, an L05 with a scat crankshaft and comp Thumpr cam, running on TBI. I've spent the last week getting all of this together in the car, I got the car pretty much in pieces, with the engine sitting in it with one bellhousing bolt and one motor mount bolt.
any dynos near you? i wanna know how much pounding your car is doing to the ground etc etc c:
In relation to a conversation a few pages back, I did a few sweet drift donuts in a nearly brand new U-Haul pick up truck this weekend, countersteer and erry'thang. Also, my hatch should be running by this weekend, I'm pumped.
bah, fucking great, the week I get off school I get sick, cba to work on ae86 when sick :(

But yeah def get dynos
Golf wheels will be white. Bought some paint to try it today c: But the weather says that I shouldn't try it today though...
what is peoples obsession with golfs? they are slow
Who else than me in this sub-forum owns a Golf Mk1 right now?
Who else than me in this sub-forum owns a Golf Mk1 right now?
nobody, they aren't gay enough [sp]kidding[/sp]
Que "it's a vw thing image"
no, not a thing, a GOLF
no, not a thing, a GOLF
Trolling or dumb? Or a combination of both?
Will definitely try to find me a dyno once I've got it 100% together. I'd love to know what it's putting down too.

Oh dear, look what arrived. [t]http://i.imgur.com/76mvr.jpg?1[/t]
find some l98 heads and ditch the tbi if u wanna see big power. right now u should be at about 260-280whp
TBI is great, nobody knows how to properly use it. If you use early model (pre-94) big block injectors you've got a combined flow rate of around ~238cc per cylinder, using a megasquirt ECU it'll be easily controllable (though a stock ECU will handle them just as well) and actually flow slightly under stock LS1 injectors. You won't have the throttle response but you'll be pushing a similar amount of fuel and will be able to make a similar power number (or better). Currently I'm running a stock ECU, but I have big plans for the 'vette. I do not have L05 heads on this bottom end, whoever put it together wasn't that stupid. :P I'd be happy seeing 260-280, I'm guessing it is in the range of 250-300 currently, but I don't have a feel for something like this, I'm used to FWD, much easier to tell the difference in a few horsepower. In a FWD Honda, 100 to 120 horsepower is a huge leap, 150 is a big jump, and 200 feels crazy. Those guys running 300+ on the street are insane, I can't imagine one of those little things having that much go to it. For now, though, I'm stepping out of the Honda game until I can afford to put together what I want. I'll be toying with the corvette and the Civic is going on the back burner.
what is peoples obsession with golfs? they are slow
Because the golf was one of the original hot-hatches like the Mini Cooper. It was spacious yet small, economical yet zippy, fun to drive yet cheap. It was a very conservative car and as such, became a very popular car for a time. There's a lot more to a car than going fast. Hell, if everyone just wanted fast cars, what do you think would happen to the Miata? Or even the KA24 240SX, which has a light truck engine in it? I wouldn't consider those fast either. Or all the Civics that people continually drive and tune, even though they won't see nearly as much speed as spending similar amounts of money on something with a bigger engine.
Are there any ways to easily rewind a recoil? I'm no mechanic, but I've been working on/with my gokart for the past 8 years, and the only annoying thing is when someone (god damnit don't pull so hard) snaps the recoil string. It was sitting over winter broken, and when I took it off the kart today the string was tangled inside the metal spring, so now I have the long piece of metal out and can't seem to get it winded back up
I want a 240z. http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/2845152503.html Alas, I'm a poor college student :(
For some reason I really want to get a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor while they're selling cheap and still around.
maybe not but they are still faster than a golf
How about you read his post one more time
There's a lot more to a car than going fast.

maybe not but they are still faster than a golf
I wouldn't be surprised if a MKIII VR6 was faster than both of those.
