That's what I thought as well. I actually looked into building on my own frame and it doesn't seem too difficult. The problem is the money and time constraints.
That's exactly why you don't buy a heavily modded car, chances are they used the cheap route, or polished it up before selling it. My friend bought a "cool" car (See: Ricey Integra GSR), suspension bottomed out after a few months. The type of people selling "drift cars" for cheap often just make it sound appealing.

But you're right, my friend who owns his own 240 told me about lemon scammers. They'll buy a beatup car and fix it up just barely in a level where it is in driving condition. Like how my friend bought a crap Cressida, cut the coils, painted the wheels matte black and sold it for three grand from his original $500 purchase. You guys are great at this, point me to good fixer cars? Something that's easily accessible and with parts readily available? I need a good daily driver
I found a dealer nearby that sells this Nissan 240sx sil80 with a KA24DE engine. All tricked out and stuff. Called them up, they offered somewhat below $10K. Also told me banks won't loan on such an old 1992 model. At this point I'm really itching to get myself my own doriftu box and money plays a big factor. If I can get a monthly on a nice one, I'm set. I'm tired of these rich ding dongs passing me in their fancy ass BMW's that their parents bought them. What are good starter Japanese cars with lots of aftermarket support? I'm a poor peasant and I really need a car for work and I thought doriftu boxes are cheap to go
jesus christ Anyways, if you just want a car to get to work, don't get a 240 or anything like that. They're overpriced and they've probably been beat to shit, but they'd make a good project. There's a huge aftermarket and 240's are easy to find. S13s are a lot cheaper and easier to find used parts for.
So my mechanic managed to piss me off acutally. Not cause he charged 120$ for a water pump. Turned out to me a delco waterpump so price is acceptable. It's the fact he charged 50$ for 2 fucking bottles of antifreeze.
Lolwut? A slightly leaky fuel filter and an exhaust leak are grounds to put a car off the road? What kind of derp-tastic regulation is that? The split CV boot is far far faaaaaar more likely to be a hazard than an exhaust leak and a slight fuel filter leak could ever hope to be.
No idea. I can actually smell petrol when i first start the car but then it goes away. He estimated it would be around £80 to get those 2 jobs sorted (My mechanic).
No idea. I can actually smell petrol when i first start the car but then it goes away. He estimated it would be around £80 to get those 2 jobs sorted (My mechanic).
That sounds about right. Most of that will be plugging the exhaust leak. I'm still not sure how those minor issues warrant making it illegal to drive that car until it's fixed though. Where I live they only care that it A: Has a catalyst in the exhaust, and B: that the emissions coming out the tailpipe are within specifications.
Here In NY all mechanics pass you aslong as you pass the state emissions machine. Doesn't matter if they know theres something wrong. You pass that machine they don't give a fuck. One of our cars needed about 500 bucks of work on it to fully pass. They did it anyway
I know that here they are going to pass this thing where we have to go pass emission test every two years or so at the Plates and Licenses society, going to cost 80$ or so, just to make them see if we have a catalyst and emission test.
Here in Oklahoma what is an inspection/smog We can drive anything with a title. Although we can get pulled over for broken lights. :v:
Here in Oklahoma what is an inspection/smog We can drive anything with a title. Although we can get pulled over for broken lights. :v:
I only got pulled over for a headlight out that i didn't notice. Got a summonce that got thrown out cause i just threw a new bulb in. Anyway, Fucking in yonkers or westchester county in general everyone has lights out even the cops. I fucking hate it
i only had to do an inspection after my accident, i think the only requirement is that the car isn't on fire when you show up

Thrush or cherrybombs for glasspacks for my Comanche? Any other brands?
Thrush or cherrybombs for glasspacks for my Comanche? Any other brands?
Glasspacks are glasspacks. I use cherry bomb because they are cheap but really they are all the same. Don't splurge on expensive ones, they won't sound any better.
So my car is fogging up like a bitch, looks like I have a leaking heater core...
Swedish gas prices are ridiculous, ca 16sek/liter, which is ca $2/liter, and 3.7l is 1 gallon so it's ca $8 per gallon. I think, my brain stops doing math after 10pm. I'm sure about the Swedish prices and 3.7l = 1 gallon
http://www.mytravelcost.com/petrol-prices/ According to this Petrol in the us is 0.75€, UK is 1.65€ and 1.68€. If you want cheap petrol go live in Iran apparently its only 0.09€ a Litre

So my parents are now considering not letting me have a V8 Mustang because I'll kill myself... I'm not getting a non V8 Stang. My second option would be something with 4x4. They ok'd a Jeep Wrangler :v:
Why the hell did you buy a Blazer? :v:
Needed better gas mileage then 8MPG, have 4x4, and still not rob me. The price for this one was too good. I would have liked an Explorer but oh well.. this car is fun to fuck around with because of those tires
Only prollem I'm having is knowing when to shift from 3rd
Eh? Really? Engine doesn't tell you? I've never driven a vehicle that's not told the driver when it wants to be shifted.

With the amount if money you have you can probably buy a sick 454 SS or a Ford Cyclone. Or if they say they want you to have something safe find a Pro-Street car with a roll cage lol

Here in Florida, USA, we don't have emissions tests or safety tests! Which is good for me, because my Magnaflows are letting too much Carbon Monoxide out...:v:
