1989 S13 with engine knock/lost power for $1000.
Worth it? 5-speed, KA24E. Probably would spend whole lot on it
You could get it running fairly cheaply though. I can't imagine itt'l cost more than $750 to rebuild the lower half of that engine.
Also, this was in my manual (I lol'd at fuel cost)

At this point in time, this is the only decent 240SX for sale around where I live.

That's the major downside to getting one of them. You can't find a good priced one that isn't either riced, a wreck, both at once, or worn the fuck out. The ones that are command high prices, and the ones that aren't tend to cost it in repairs anyway.
'Tis why I'll never own a 240SX. Great cars, but not affordable, and if I want a project car I'll go for something a bit more...classic.
chrome looks horrible on that car, and the purple what the fuck
gotta disagree on the chrome. i think it looks great on curvy cars like that
I can perhaps understand why he'd not want me to have this car, but I'd need a better alternative than a turd-gen.
"turd-gen" is the best of them all bud
Yeah third gen T/As are badass. Get one fgt
Better than a shitty Saturn

I'd seriously buy that in a minute. It's so fucking cheap

my grand father had a i6 4.9l 300cu with an auto. in a 92 reg cab 4x4 f-150 lariet. not alot of hp but it was a torque monster but got like 14mpg lol 145 hp @ 3400 rpm, Torque: 265 ft-lbs. @ 2000 rpm
traded it when cash for clunkers happened for a 09 trd tacoma 4x4 4door auto
My favorite firebird is fourth gen, but that's only because of the flip up headlights being on such a new car.
I love flip up headlights.
agreed, that's one of the best parts of the car in my opinion
I just can't stand the front of 4th gens

That's why I'm still a bit pissed at my grandma, she was the original owner of a ~93 S13 and sold it out from under me when I was 14 to my uncle, who then sold it off. It was in perfect condition too.
One of my friends went to Nurburgring in his purple Skoda. That doesn't mean you can't have fun!

if you rebuild it yourself it'll be much cheaper, or just swap in a twin cam, KA24DE's are cheap
Been getting my MOT failure sorted today. Entire new exhaust system and fuel filter. £160.
Also, a Beetle my uncle is restoring and turning into Herbie.

It was going to be scrapped and was originally blue, but he saved it and bought it for a few hundred.

Car got carted off today, they're going to repair her thankfully. Should have her back within a week and better still, that third party replacement front wing that I've been meaning to replace ever since I goet her is gone and done for me. In the meantime I have a 10 plate 1.6 vauxhall astra. It's not as shit as I expected.
Went to look at that Audi today. It's got a couple electrical problems. The dash backlight doesn't work and the wire to the fuel pump is loose, but mechanically the thing is in tip-top shape.
My friend informed me that all German cars have a shitload of wiring problems, and that if I got this car I'd just be dealing with shit not working over and over and using it as a daily driver is a bad idea. That, and I surmised on my own that this car wouldn't be incredibly fast/good handling/good looking (well, in the opinions of other people at least). Yet, I still want it.
So here's the deal: I need advice from anyone here who owns an old German car. Are all the wiring problems real or just a myth? Is there anything else I need to know about cars like this?
My dad's lifelong friend had a late '60s Mercedes, a first generation BMW 3 series (or 5 series, forgot), and IIRC a mid 80s Audi Coupe.
The Mercedes was the only good one (and it was bought used), but it was a diesel and painfully slow.
The BMW (which was bought new) was a shitbox that would lock him in the car, the alternator would stop working in the middle of driving, and the gauges would stop working
The Audi (bought new IIRC) had pretty much the same problems as the BMW.
After those 3 cars, he decided to never buy German again. :v:
He loved the BMW and Audi when they worked, but when you have $400+ repair bills (in the 70s and 80s) every couple months...

Good.
Also, I guess I'm not getting this Audi after all the bad shit I've heard about it. I still don't want a third gen camaro, though, I fucking hate those things.
Wow super glue is such bullshit. Tried super-gluing a latch back together, thought it would hold cause it was a clean break. I ended up gluing it together 3 times with two different super glues, it snapped every time I screwed it back onto my console box. Now I gotta shell out 20 bucks for a little piece of plastic, fuck you nissan and your cheaply made plastic parts

If you get that car and respray the hood I'll come down there, unbolt it, beat you with it and use your face to sand the new paint off.
Or you could just give me the hood. :P

Just received a $2k inheritance from my grandma... new parts, here I come. :)
My sister is such a fucking idiot. She asks me for help trying to buy her first car, then she goes to Carmax looking for a car, tells me what I think about a '06 Toyota corolla with 85k miles, for $12k. I say no, it's a ripoff. Then she goes on and yells at me for telling her what she likes, then I'm like "If you didn't want my help why did you ask for it." Then she tells me all she wants is a 06+ VW Beetle. I give up.

Never offer advice to someone who already has an idea in mind and doesn't understand cars; they're going to automatically assume you're wrong and they're right because the nice man in the suit told them so at the dealership. The only people you want to help are the ones who aren't set on buying any specific cars and take your recommendation from the start. My friend Nick just bought an '06 Pontiac G6 with 60k miles for FIFTEEN THOUSAND. I cringed so hard when he told me, but I couldn't bring myself to tell him he'd spent $6k too much. It was also the ONLY car he test drove. I don't understand some people.
