But if they didn't, what would be their defense mechanic?
The same of a velociraptor or was it passive?
I mean a dinosaur has to have some way to protect itself out there, if the dilophosaurus didn't spit venom or use any defense mechanic, it'd just be plain retarded.
The defensive mechanism it had was being fucking tall and armed with sharp teeth and god-damn massive claws. Dilophosaurus was probably only a scavenger anyway, looking at its thin structure and fairly weak jaw.

Rarr. Looks like it could defend itself to me.
Well i noticed the big shell on it's head, or whatever it is?
Could it be that it used the same attack as to just headbutt it's enemies?
No. It's just a crest.
You must not lie!
I was there on Page 1 in v1. Do not doubt the elder. :P
Also, the T-Rex and the Brontosaurus were my favorite dinosaurs when I was growing up.
Sorry but Brontosaurus doesn't exist any more.
:(
I'm simply saying that seeing something in a film or reading it in a science-fiction novel does not make something true.
I never said it was true, It was just merely a guess or a refrain, i'm sorry to have stirred you up. :smith:
Thread is starting to get big. I wonder if there will be multiple versions.
Thread is starting to get big. I wonder if there will be multiple versions.
Maybe. Who knows. I just hope it doesn't follow the same path as a.. certain other thread that which will not be named.
I pray for no "Little Foot Porn on Page 34" crap.
Well the reason i thought it was true because dinosaurs aren't fictional, and even though that movie was fictional, my first guess was the dinosaurs in it would have the same abilities as they had many million years ago.
But if that isn't true, then why would the movie makers make the dilophosaurus in particular be able to spit venom, if it could not spit venom a million years ago?
Or was it true and we don't know?
:psyboom:
is it true that jeff goldblum would have a chance of fighting against a t-rex in a fight?
is it true that jeff goldblum would have a chance of fighting against a t-rex in a fight?
Absolutely. He would destroy it with his incredible wit. Actually, based on that theory, I think you'd have a chance too.
But if that isn't true, then why would the movie makers make the dilophosaurus in particular be able to spit venom, if it could not spit venom a million years ago?
Because it's badass, original and appealing for the reader of the book or the viewer of the film. Nothing more I'm afraid.

Post 13, even though the hoster is down :(
but basically that's my point
Well, did any Dinosaur know how to snap a neck?
Or is that just another fictional ability from Jurassic park?
Well, did any Dinosaur know how to snap a neck?

Does that happen in the book? I vaguely remember something like that. Can you recall what type of dinosaur it was and how it snapped the prey's neck? Because my answer depends on those answers. If we're talking about a predator, which I assume we are, then it is perfectly possible that many dinosaurs, especially tyrannosaurids that had hugely powerful jaws and neck muscles but a lack of proper arms, were able to aim for a prey's neck and crush it in its jaws, jerking the prey to snap the neck.

You've sealed and doomed the future of the thread by even suggesting it. :v:

i always found it funny how some big mean dinosaur has pathetic little arms. Case in point:

It's our old friend the Tyrannosaurus for the non-paleontologists around us.

Well.
The Spinosaurus grabbed the neck of the T-Rex, pulled it's head down and snapped it's neck.
Is it possible for them to do that?
Well.

Probably. Many predators today do that, lions are one example.
That looks pretty plausible to me.
Also your embedding failed. Reform the link.
Flasmosauruses look a lot like the Loch Ness monster.

I don't think it is possible for a Spinosaurus to do that. Most theropods had the palms of their hands facing each other and it would be very difficult for them to do that, if they could do it. However we can't be sure about that untill we find the arms and hands of a Spinosaurus. Look at this link for more information about the position of their hands. http://archosaurmusings.wordpress.com/2009/05/27/theropods-are-clappers-not-slappers/
Why isn't the Goddamn pachycephalosaurus here.
the Deinocheirus should be there to, only the arms have been found but they where 2,7 meters long.

He used his jaw and neck to break the neck in that clip. Although your point is correct, the arms are pretty irrelevant here.

Watch the clip again from 0:42 to 0:46 you can see the Spinosaurus use both of his hands along with his jaws to break the neck.
Just imagine charging into into battle on one of these. My favorite dinosaur by the way.

I think it'd be pretty shit riding into battle on a vegitarian. (yes, i know it's a herbivore, comedic effect goin' on)
I think it'd be pretty shit riding into battle on a vegitarian.
How come :/ ? They're not supposed to eat the enemies, just stomp them to death.

Added.
Well it's difficult to give a reason as to why they don't spit venom. Probably because they didn't need to is the best answer I can provide.
Migration from the Dragon megathread eh.
I think the two threads should merge sooner or later.
No.
