You...
You didn't put Tyrannosaurus Rex in the OP?
That's...heresy.
See how I'm using multiple lines of text to be dramatic?
On a serious and dinosaur related note: Two things always piss me off in dinosaur discussions. First, that everyone jumped on the bandwagon that spinosaurus is a motherfucking (both literal and figurative meaning there) bad ass, after JP3 (Also known as: Death to a franchise). And second, that Tyrannosaurus was purely a scavenger.
Nonetheless, OP was very informative.
This is why The_Lizard_Xing is one of my favorite posters.
So if they lived for 150 cajillion years why weren't they super smart??
Ye thats y we rule

Don't worry, I will be adding the more famous dinosaurs later.

I agree with what you said about Spinosaurus... although that bit about T-Rex is "purely" unproven. Don't state stuff like that as if it's 100% factual - that debate is very hot and one of the longest running in the history of palaeontology.
T-Rex was quite a predator, why would he be a scavenger when he could easily just crush some raptors?

Don't get involved in the argument if you're going to ruin my side of it. You're talking about this animal like its a Pokemon. Why would a predator hunt other predators capable of defending themselves? Here's the answer: it wouldn't. And not only other predators, but a group of the fastest and smartest predators. Sweet idea there. :downs:
I'm not trying to ruin your side of the argument, nor am i trying to get involved in any argument. It's just that it sounds logical for such an enormous predator like Tyrannosaurus to hunt for food.

Size isn't everything (hurr). I do agree with you though that t-rex, in my opinion, was a predator. It seems people's only arguments for otherwise is "he has tiny arms"... but that would mean that whole family of dinosaurs would be scavengers and, for dominant creatures of their immense size, neck strength and bite weight, it just doesn't make sense.
Enormous beasts use enormous amounts of energy. Scavenging doesn't take that much. The Tyrannosaurus was probably a predator like a lion.

Dinosaursisseriousbusiness.
Well even so there's no need to argue harshly about it.
I come here for some fun discussions, not flame wars. :smith:
I've a great idea for a discussion.
Posters in this thread like dinosaurs. Discuss, comment etc. Why do you like dinosaurs? Perhaps you know someone who does. Have you considered the benefits of liking dinosaurs?

Are saying we should become scalies asif it's some sort of cult?

I phrased that badly. Refer to edit for clarity.
Great thread. Prehistory is really fun to read about. It's like it is a completely different world. It's hard to grasp the concept on how long ago that really was.
The OP needs more information about bussiness dinosaurs.
They are especially active when it comes to the fuel stuff.
What? No.

Then what are you talking about? "Scaled beasts"? They have a name. :frown: Meanie.
Dinosaurs only.
Excellent thread.
OP you get a thousand brownies.
Stay sexy~
Dinosaurs only.
What about the bussiness dinosaurs.
What about the bussiness dinosaurs.
haha not in this thread i'm afraid
Make a thread about the Minutemen
Updated.

No no, I meant that people that think that T-rex was only a scavenger is what pisses me off. There is a tremendous amount of evidence toward the idea that it was a predator.
Size isn't everything, but it does make sense that such a large creature wouldn't be able to rely only on scavenged food. Not to mention, what use is such a massive mouth (With the strongest bite strength in known history) if its not used to kill prey?
There are other, lesser known things, such as the fact that paleontologist believe Tyrannosaurus had a "poisonous" bite. Originally they thought it was just from the decaying meat stuck in its teeth, that would obviously infect a wound if something is bitten, but recent information makes it more like a bite of a Komodo Dragon: The "poisonous" aspect to it is from the Rex's saliva, rather then bacteria collected in its mouth.
Also, the position of the Rex's eyes give it binocular vision, which is a trait that is seen mostly in active predators, not scavengers.
This post wasn't meant to argue with anyone, it was just to state the evidence supporting the theory of Tyrannosaurus being a hunter.
I don't get the whole "it's arms are small therefore T. Rex = Scavenger" argument. yeah, in a fight, they're not going to do shit, but killing things isn't the only function an arm can have. in fact, I believe I read somewhere (The Complete Idiot's Guide to Dinosaurs), that scientists believed that the T. Rex's arms were mainly for providing stability during mating.
there was also a fun fact that was a cleverly disguised metaphor that T. Rexes may have frequently had accidental anal. it was in the form of a computer floppy disk metaphor. dammit, if I had that book with me right now I'd look for that tidbit and write it down right now. when I first read and understood it I lol'd.
