Depends on what you mean by job. If by minimum wage job, they're easy to get. If you say they're not then you're either just a horrible candidate for employment or live in a rough area. Where i live i can walk into most stores and ask for a application and i'd get a call back.
Actual jobs are very context sensitive. I know in philadelphia, if you have a bachelors degree in IST or Computer sciences, there are jobs out of the fucking ass available to you.
Also why would one have to save up for a haircut, they're 9$. If you go to a salon you're an idiot.

My first PAID job that was completely mine was being a church sacristan. I essentially got the church ready for daily masses then sat in the back behind the altar and played gta on my psp while mass was being said. It was funny because at that point i wasn't even religious. Then 3 years ago i got my current job at the movies where i still work and i run the concession stands with people under me.
I had loads of oddjobs as a kid like helping my brother on a paper route.
