lotsa people do that, i have a few friends that don't really give a shit about furries but take commissions regardless.

and about the pricing? lots of artists severely undersell themselves; essentially working for under minimum wage for their art. on one hand, more people will commission you if your prices are low, but on the other, people won't wanna commission you if you charge a lot. charging a bit more weeds out the idiots and shitty customers, though. that way only really dedicated customers will do business with you.

most of the time i avoid getting backgrounds because they're a waste of money and put unneeded pressure on an artist. i usually commission things to illustrate one of my IC thoughts or situations my characters might be in in a visual matter, not to get some crazy painting to hang up on my wall or shit.
