Aside from trims to remove split ends/dryness and even it out I've basically been growing mine uninterrupted for 4 years now. I know long hair generally isn't very well-received in the gay community or on Facepunch as a whole, but I've never had anyone make any negative comments about mine. (Aside from when I started growing it out and nothing could keep it from looking like shit) Comments were usually along the lines of which guy from which band I looked like.
I did have one probably-autistic guy tell me I looked like an anime villain though. This is how he initiated conversations.
The reason I'm looking for something shorter is because despite not wanting actual [i]short[/i] hair, I want something easier to deal with. Really long hair has to be tied back half the time and that's hard on it and makes you look dumb 99% of the time.

i was literally about to post the same thing, i really want it short because at the moment it makes me look like 16, but i have a huge head and am terrified of it looking shit
From experience it can be scary losing your long hair but you'll look sexier because of it.

I had to have an operation on my head a few weeks ago, they were originally planing to cut from ear-to-ear over the top of my head (which would involve them cutting out some of my hair), being optimistic about the situation I thought it would at least give me an excuse to cut it short, then at the last minute they changed their minds and cut in above my eye instead.

I got punched and my phone snatched whilst on a night out, fractured my forehead, it was purely a cosmetic operation though (had a huge, pretty visible dent in my forehead). I could have just left it and lived with the dent for the rest of my life without any medical repercussions, but being young & fit they said that any operation would be easy to bounce back from.
If you imagine tapping an egg with a spoon, that's what my skull was like, they had to remove the little fragments and then put a metal strip across it to hold the big fragments back in their original positions. They then put this weird putty stuff all over it to smooth it out, apparently in about a year my body will have converted the putty into real bone, pretty cool stuff.
All things considered I got off lucky, the fragments that broke stayed where they were, if they had fallen into my skull cavity it would have been a hell of a lot worse. No brain damage either, not to mention the "what ifs" surrounding the incident itself.
That really doesn't sound purely cosmetic at all
what if someone poked the dent and the skull bits poked your brain or something like that
