Well actually, a 5k mattress with a very good quality will probably last the rest of his life, so I'd very well say it's a good investment and a great way to keep his body working right a little longer.
The mattress I have right now is worth a few thousands and it's comfy as hell, even if it's not the youngest one. At my work camp I have a cheap 100-200$ one place mattress and it feels like sleeping on rock. (Even though I could order myself a brand fucking new one because my job is to order stuff, they'd still be the same.)

this is going to sound like the cheesiest and most cliche thing ever but it's not about winning to me it's about just having fun playing the game
it helps to have friends and stuff who feel the same way (i used to have a bunch of really fucking competitive friends who would just constantly challenge me to "1v1" matches and such and it was really annoying)
but there's a difference between doing bad because you're not good at the game and doing bad because the game is unfair to the player
the worst fucking example of this is BF3 where you will constantly get shot down when you're in a jet unless you use the flares which you have to unlock by not getting shot down in a jet
that's why I never solo queue in dota, when I play with my friends at least we get to have fun and do silly shit
I never really used Vehicles in BF3.. Just because BC2 was the first online FPS I played
Won 4v4 tournaments and shit in that hey.. good times lol

far cry 3 has multiplayer that I have not touched and have no idea what it even is but if it's 1/8 as good as the singleplayer it should be more than great

I haven't played any mobas (and don't plan on doing so) because I've heard their communities (all of them) are stupidly agressive towards anyone who isn't an mlg pro who memorizes the stats of a hundred characters and weapons and shit and plays in the most "efficient" way possible
that's also the reason I never got the point of competitive gaming
