I have a strange suspicion that most of these people just IMDB'd Star Trek V and saw it has a 5.4 and start complaining about it on Twitter that he has no right to judge because it appears to be bad
By the way, Star Trek 4 released 5 years later and was a direct sequel to Star Trek 3 while this discussion is about a reboot that appears not to be related directly to the original story with a 20+ year production different + different cast

Although I think the gender reversal is done purely for the marketing attention and not cinematic quality, that's not why I dislike it as of this far. It just feels like a rehash of the original with the lack of that 80's comedic charm.

This people seems to make people mad but I find it more sad or depressing than anything. All these people seem really excited to be part of this project that is probably going to bomb, hard.
I feel if it would have just been another generic comedy. It would have done alright or bombed and everyone would forget about it.
But because they just had to use the Ghostboster's name. It's going to be remembered for being a disaster for years to come.

if they were smart enough to redo the creative conditions of the first movie then i could kind of see a point to it being a reboot, kind of like an "in the spirit of" kind of thing? like how Deadpool showed the worth of R-rated comic book movies, this could have made executives think "maybe we should let comedians write our blockbusters again." but they didn't do that so it's pointless

That is just sad. A bunch of people are getting mad at this one video? The previous trailers were awful, expect awful reactions like James'. And I agree with him, they are garbage, and the news behind them doesn't help.

What's so bad about this take on the franchise? How about third-rate comedians with one-trick pony jokes with bottom of the barrel humor, okay effects, Mr. Fanservice Chris Hemsworth with no purpose but to play the secretary, and, that's a big and, this was done so that Sony won't get flak if it turns out to be bad. It was done so that when people say "It looks bad", someone else is gonna scream "It's because it's all women? Sexist!" when it's not really the case and it all delves into mass hysteria! It's gonna be a hard road, and the best way to deal with it is not buy tickets. Don't even bother giving Sony or McCarthy money.
