I love WH40k but my skills as a painter when it comes to the figures is lacking, but I don't let that discourage me. Hobbies are about doing what you love, that "socially acceptable" thing is utter crap.
Heh, I saw a person with a TF2 Sandvich: Edible Device t-shirt, and another with the Forever Alone meme on it.
Airsoft is my hobby
Who else collected Yu-Gi-Oh cards when they were a kid? That was the shit.
I like to dress up as a monster and run into my little sisters room while screaming.
I want to get into paint balling as a hobby.
I find it idiotic when people in my school are talking about how they didn't sleep all weekend because they were playing cowwadooty, but suddenly I say I was playing TF2 for a few hours and I'm the nerd with no life. Seriously?
All the jocks in my school are addicted to TF2 now that it's gone free. :v:
I would love to start doing archery.
It's the best, but only if you have a good place to shoot.
I'm a sabre fencer.
What rank are you? I've been fencing for about a year and I'm still not ranked.
Ever been to a rich midwest suburb? Everyone is arrogant as hell.
I never liked to show my financial stance when I was a kid... It felt kind of bad.
I used to catch flak for being such a huge sci-fi / video game nerd. Then I additionally discovered that I really enjoyed working on electronics / repairing cars and somehow everything was socially acceptable. Children are weird. [editline]16th September 2011[/editline]
Who else collected Yu-Gi-Oh cards when they were a kid? Legos, Drawing, and Tropical Fishkeeping. I guess video games too but that really isn't a hobby.
Ever since I stopped playing airsoft I haven't really had a hobby other than video games and my life has been boring as fuck and I started to get more out of shape then i was when I played airsoft. I should probably get into that again.
I make costumes as a hobby. It definitely takes a long time but worth it in the end. People are rather impressed with it then anything else. They get even more impressed when you say that you made it.
While Warhammer 40k may or may not be very socially acceptable, it's still a great hobby, in my opinion. Why does a hobby need to be socially acceptable as long as you enjoy it?
I think 40k can be an acceptable hobby if you do it with swag.
It seems to be that time when you're in high school/sixth form trying to find your place in the social hierarchy of school when things can be seen as "socially unacceptable". If you stick with a hobby long enough it becomes "acceptable" again. It's those hobbies which everyone seems to do that seem acceptable, and if you have a hobby which is kind of "out-there" you might be frowned upon for it, which is just daft. As for me, I go SCUBA diving, and I love it.
I row. Sculling, specifically. It's a good way to relieve stress and build muscle, and you just feel like a badass when you're skittering across a river at 20mph. Did I mention it's fun?

Cars is my hobby. I love any good car, but American muscle is my favorite. Currently I have an 88 Trans Am GTA and a 06 Mustang I tinker with.

Seriously?
tf2 is not a very mainstream game, so most people won't care about it. so, the second you show enthusiasm, you're the odd one out science man
I collect suits as a hobby now. But it's not socially acceptable because most people don't know anything about suits nor find them interesting. Nobody cares about the sweet 6-button I just ordered or the classic styled 3 button w/ pinstripes I found for 180 bucks. It's okay though cause I look fly as fuark when I wear them.
Who else collected Yu-Gi-Oh cards when they were a kid? That was the shit.
I've still got a bunch of my old cards lying around somewhere. I spent way too much on packs of them when I was a kid. :v: As for my hobbies today, I mainly listen to music no one else I know likes (trance, electro-house, etc.), play PC games, and I tend to play Dance Dance Revolution for fun every so often; still have my old games on PS2 from when I was 9, good times...
i like to pass the peace pipe
I just recently found out I like making goggles. I just love the reactions I get when wearing them around over top my trilby.
I... I wish I had a hobby.

Shame it's never appropriate to wear any.
I have linedance as hobby I never dare tell anyone
I spent 15$ to move blocks with other people who also like to move blocks
I like to watch terrible movies with friends, and nitpick everything, as we all sit there, giggling and laughing at how bad they are.
