I found that when i went to school people of my age and even a little younger did mess around quite a bit, but if you don't bullshit them and just tell everyone what weird things you do, you you'd just become the "insert weird hobby" man and be called for advice about it later.
For some reason most people were being very mature about people and their feelings. But i went to what would be known as Vocational education to most of you (which is actually a normal route here). So maybe that changes something. Not many rich kids, and the ones that were, had a hard time being picked on.

I've only ever had positive reactions when I tell people I do it. The only "That's pretty gay" reaction I've had is from my brother, and he's just a joyless shitpail in general so he doesn't count.

The thing is, at least over here, if you have a strange hobby, some people will slag you for it, and the absolute worst thing you can do when slagged about a hobby is act offended. Because then they'll keep doing it. Best thing to do is make a joke of it. That said, I'll still give out to my friends for shouting when we're walking by games workshop, stuff like "more like virgin workshop".

My main hobbies are guitar and playing video games (if that even counts as a hobby) I used to get made fun of for playing video games... Then Call of Duty became popular and playing video games became socially acceptable, well where I live anyway.

As I've seen a few others post, I too have no hobbies. All I have to do day-to-day is gaming and internet browsing [img]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22990731/SA%20Emotes/frown.gif[/img]. It's pretty dreary and disgraceful and I want to make a change. I love making functional things with my hands but after moving house we had no room for the workbench, so woodworking which I was fairly into, became pretty much out of the question. As I said, I did Home Ec in high school because I like to make things. I never persisted with textiles outside of that class work though, and I've long since forgotten how to knit after giving it a go on three seperate occasions back when I was a stupid jumpy kid.
Sewing, or making things out of string isn't really socially acceptable is it?

I fucking love unique hobbies, I can't stand only about sports because nearly everyone loves it. I got so happy when I met Lord of the Rings and Warhammer 40k freaks because I love the lore in both of them and my countless hours spent on their respective wikis has made me consider it a hobby.

It annoys me that people who play fantasy football would take the piss out of someone if they said they play MMOs, make models, collect stuff, ect.
People tend to respect/take interest to my hobbies. My main one being music performance and production.
