BEATS BY DRE SUCK HORSECOCK
Well if you want bang for your buck, get some Beats by Dre. I got to listen to a pair over at Best Buy and then one of my buddies got the super expensive over the ear ones and it was fucking killer. Very pricey, but amazing quality.
no
beats are absolutely terrible and if you are going to spend that much money on headphones you can get 10x better for the price(even half the price will get you better)

Uhh.
Beats are a huge ripoff in terms of price to quality
i've heard a lot about sennheiser and audio technica
i use these, personally. http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX700-Precision-Sound-Headphones/dp/B0013OWPV4

oh you fuck
Personally I own the Sennheiser HD 202 (as I like to brag about a lot, hehe). They're $20 and they can make any song you throw at it sound amazing. That is of course if you use high quality mp3 files and FLAC files. That goes for any headphones, really.

I strongly recommend it. Everyone I've ever showed it to has usually ended up staring in amazement, no joke.

Of course this if you ONLY want to spend $20.
Sennheiser has much better headphones at a large range of prices.
well i still like beats
sooo
I use a pair of Audio Technica ATH-A700s with my FiiO E7 amp.
If you like skull-shatteringly boomy bass, you'll be disappointed. They have a warm sound overall and the low-end is more deep than boomy. However you can turn up the Bass EQ on the E7 to get more punch out of them without sacrificing a whole lot of sound quality.
Other than that, they have a big sound stage and very good positioning, which makes them great for gaming.

Snake Oil by Dre
I recently got me a pair on Sennheiser HD 201s and for the price (about 40$ although last I checked they were on sale on Newegg for about 25$) they were great. Don't expect to be amazed. They're cheap, but for the price they are nice.

Got mine from Best Buy for $20 wednesday and they are nice, not a lot of bass though if that's what you're looking for..
Hate the picture they used for them on Best Buy's site though. makes the foam ear cups on them look like smooth rubber..
JVC HA-S600 are good for the price imo
ath m50, 90 dollars on ebay if you look hard enough
I've been using the Bose Headphones http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HWV8QG/ (Literally the name, or I can't find it anywhere), and they have been great!
While it is pricey (I bought like 2 years ago), these have been my longest lasting pair of headphones I've ever owned.
It's about $95, but it sure beat paying $30+ dollars on a new pair of headphones every 6 months.

Bose are a reprehensible company with terrible products
When you buy Bose, you're buying a brand.
You can buy better for less than Bose.
I had some Bose AE2 cans, but the cables keep degrading until all the sound stops. What would you guys suggest as something better to replace them?

what's your budget?
I just purchased some Klipsch Images One headphones off eBay about a week ago for $75 (half of the $150 price tag in stores) I'm not a headphone expert, but they're comfortable, fit securely, and have sound isolation technology (which isn't quite as good as active sound canceling, but once you have them playing, works great at blocking out background noise. Also doesn't require batteries) My brother actually has Beats Solos, and I'm not impressed with them. They basically have enough bass to massage your ears, but that's about all they have going for them. If your do a little bit of browsing on eBay, your can easily find this headphones for half price or less if you get them used.
Hope this helps
A guy on my course uses Beats to mix :suicide:
So my dad ordered me a pair of Sennheiser HD 201's, just wondering if these are any good?
best you can get for the price, yes
I got me a pair of these last week:

And I am very impressed, especially by the bass. I can see why Sony's been selling them for 20+ years

they're not necessarily bad as such, just really overpriced. if you can afford them then good for you, you have high quality headphones and a fashion accessory in one.
absolutely AWFUL for production though, completely cuts highs and lows out.

Cheap and cheerful, you won't get any better in the price range but they won't set the world on fire compared to higher priced ones

They're too biased as a headphone to me. In my opinion headphones shouldn't get in the way of what you're listening to. Beats do that and then some. You're no longer listening to the production, you're listening to Dr Dre's impression of the production. I'd rather have transparency and honesty
i have a pair of grado sr60i's.
every time i listen too 2112 by rush its like someone is having sex with my ear.
