I don't think it was about refusing to say how much he was paid. I think the real problem is that he's been a condescending wanker about other's opinions on his creation. Either way we might have driven him off for the time being. [editline]27th March 2013[/editline]
Maybe he did not even build it.
No, if you mean Apolly building the thing, he's been doing it for years. And he's still in the thread watcher list so he could be brewing up a masterpiece of a reply.
I just don't remember him being a condescending CUNT for years though?
Lol this thread is too funny.
I will hire a appraiser just to piss off the OP at this point. Tho I am pretty sure the appraiser would probably say, "as much as the materials costed to make."
We're at $25 currently. [editline]27th March 2013[/editline]
I just don't remember him being a condescending CUNT for years though?
Seems to be a recent development.
So how much did they pay you
Wow, a lot of angry people in here...
Okay how exactly does this stick out more than the other rube goldbergs?
Hey, thanks for a real question! Okay, the criteria for a GOOD rube Goldberg are as follows: No editing. Doesn't matter if your machine is three minutes long. If it has edits, It is less impressive than a machine that is shorter, but has no edits Quality of Camera work (You can have the best Rube ever, but if you can't film all the details, it might as well not exist- This is not to be confused with the quality of the camera itself--Just because something has high production value does not mean it is better than something with low production value. I wish I had a better camera- Unfortunately some people confuse production value to production quality. Which is like saying Justin Bieber's Cd is better than Kurt Cobain's demo tape because more money was spent on it. One has to consider the supplies and scale of the machine. OK-Go's Rube for instance, has a price tag on it of 1000's...so you can't really compare theirs to mine. Of course theirs is flashier and more exciting in ways...they spent shit loads of money and had shit loads of space. One must judge the machine in the context of other similar production values. OK.Go had a pretty damn good machine, although I prefer smaller scale ones. I'd never compare mine to theirs, but I would compare mine to Pitagora Suichi. Quality of interaction between objects and complexity, and movement. Rubes are essentially music for the eyes, to look good, they require unique movements, such as arcs, sprials, bounces, usually a combination of the three. There is no difference between a tire rolling and a spool rolling, it is what you make it do. An inherently bad rube is when people use marbles to take the place of dominoes. Dominoes are about creating variety through repetition, where rubes are solely about variety. Longer is not necessarily better. The Rube must be judges on how interesting itself is. Der Lauf Der Dinge is a 30 minute slong rube (with 3 edits, so technically 3 10 minute rubes) however some parts are boring. You can have a 30 second rube jam packed with intricacies, which would make it better than a 2 minute rube jammed packed with molasses. So these are GENERAL rules for this art form. Art definitely has some sort of unspoken guidelines, but the beauty is sometimes people figure out how to break them. Now if you scour youtube (which is mainly responsible for the resurgence of this art form), you will see plenty of talent. Also, plenty of shit that doesn't even come close to the video japan bought. And I never said I was THE BEST, however, go do your research, oh and check out my 189 rubes and THEN start talkin' shit. I'll respect it more for sure.
how much did they pay you?
you put "so i sold" in the title and didn't expect people to ask how much you got paid? it's an interesting thing that doesn't happen often, why put it in your title if you didn't want people to ask you retard
Great video man! Rarely a Facepunch member gets his videos on Japanese national television.
How pay did they you much?
I'm not saying merely because if I do people will judge the quality of my work based on what I got paid for it rather than what it is I'm not giving this book a cover for ya'll to judge. I will say it did not make me a rich man.
I honestly couldn't give 2 shits about you or your machine. I am curious about how much these shows will pay for videos like these. No offence bro, but don't think that anyone will judge your work on how much you got paid for it.
you put "so i sold" in the title and didn't expect people to ask how much you got paid? it's an interesting thing that doesn't happen often, why put it in your title if you didn't want people to ask you retard
I expected people to ask, but I didn't expect people to be a dick when I wanted to withhold that information. If someone came up to me and went ''I sold a painting'' I'd say 'Great! Good going, yo! Let's smoke a blunt in celebration!''
How much wealth did you obtained from sending this film clip to a Japanese Broadcasting network?
I'm glad he's ignoring criticism and writing up paragraph after paragraph to flaunt how much more qualified he is to have an opinion on a Rube Goldberg than we are.
I'm glad he's ignoring criticism and writing up paragraph after paragraph to flaunt how much more qualified he is to have an opinion on a Rube Goldberg than we are.
Not all opinions are equal.

If someone came up to me and went ''I sold a painting'' I'd say 'Great! Good going, yo! Let's smoke a blunt in celebration!''
No, you would have fucking asked for how much.
I repeat, most of the dickery stems from your condescending attitude.
I was only condescending to those who entered this thread with nothing but insults when I chose to withhold how much I got paid.
So how much did you get paid?
why is he being such an ass?
Got into japanese telly and now he thinks he's better than us. That's what fame does to you if you're not careful with it. First he though that telling how much he got from it would shine negatively upon him. All this shit is shining like a million suns upon him. And not in a good way.
Whatever a couple blowjobs from a hooker costs.
I expected people to ask, but I didn't expect people to be a dick when I wanted to withhold that information. If someone came up to me and went ''I sold a painting'' I'd say 'Great! Good going, yo! Let's smoke a blunt in celebration!''
then why didn't you just put, "one of my videos was used on japanese tv" instead of, "i sold a video ;););)" either you're just attention seeking really hard, or you're just dumb
Whatever a couple blowjobs from a hooker costs.
well that depends on the hooker

OF COURSE I'm better than someone who was a prick to me for no reason, DUH.
