Is it just me or is the shot full of people at 0:10 pretty much missing all shadows?
I'm cringing at the thought of how long it'd take to compute all of those shadows.
They probably turned the shadows off because they were given a short deadline, and they didn't think they'd have enough time to render everything if that shot had full shadows.
There is a lot of moving bodies in that shot.
I'm honestly very excited. Pre ordering it soon. I still think Blood Money is one of the best in the series though.
I like Blood Money but people give it WAY too much leeway for the shit it messed up on, as well as giving Absolution a bunch of unnecessary flack for not being Blood Money 2.
As someone who completed Contracts and did one or two missions on SA and Blood Money, Absolution was still fairly terrible. Unlike the unique and varied environments found in Contracts, from the Meat King's Party Party, to Beldingford Manner, we got a weird 70s/80s atmosphere and a mish-mash of somewhat decent, open areas to pointless filler sequences filled with stereotypes. Whereas the previous games' plots had a tendency to subtly link each contract together, this one bashed you over the head with a shoehorned, cliche-filled plotline with characters that were equally stereotyped caricatures and don't even get me started on the Killer Nuns.
That's not even accounting for how the disguise system was pretty much ruined, since anyone who worked the same job that you were disguised as would almost instantly recognise and fuck your day up unless you could keep the meter up. So yeah, I'd say Absolution was mediocre in comparison.
Whos making this one? I found Absolution to be pretty average
Whos making this one? I found Absolution to be pretty average
The same people who made every other Hitman.

The same devs who made all the previous ones.
In name only, the original crew who made the originals up to Blood money and Kane & Lynch: Dead Men are long gone.
Not to mention they kicked out half their team post Absolution http://www.develop-online.net/news/job-losses-and-project-cancellations-hit-io-interactive/0115151
The levels in Contracts are better than most in Blood Money. Blood Money had too many levels where half the map was used for the mission and the other half was basically empty. The entire guest area of the Death on the Mississippi was completely empty, compare that to Traditions of the Trade where the empty rooms could be used as an alternate route into locked areas or to pass checkpoints.

Absolution could have been a much better game if they cut out ALL of those awful filler sequences before those actual big open levels. That shit was the worst, especially the garbage running from the police for about 2 hours.
Also the top difficulty is HORRIBLY imbalanced and I think most would agree the higher/top difficulty are the ones everyone should play on for Hitman. You are so gimped its not even fun, intuition is handled horribly and you can easily like lock yourself out of doing the missions stealthly on higher difficulties because you run out of "DISGUISE MAGIC" to do anything.
Remove the filler garbage and make disguising work like Blood Money(just make OP disguises challenging to get in the levels) and you would have had a good hitman game, not great, but good.
Its a shame because absolution has some pretty great levels like that auto-shop town and the hotel.

I agree with most of that. The disguise system isn't as bad as people make it out (you can turn away from enemies to prevent them spotting you, you don't have to use instinct all the time). The fact that the game was designed around instinct and the linear progression sections are pretty bad.
I'm just sick of Blood Money fans saying in literally every Hitman thread "Absolution was garbage and worthless, Blood Money was basically flawless." Absolution improved on the movement, the gunplay, and the melee combat, it had it's fair share of flaws but when the game came out people were being fucking retards about it. Bitching about QTE melee combat as though mashing punch to do a stupid 'right, left, headbutt' was some masterpiece of melee fighting.
Discussing what Absolution did right and wrong is actually impossible because people just declare the entire thing garbage and shut down anyone who disagrees.
I docked the disguise system some points on my own scale simply because of how certain disguises were pretty much busted. For example the chef outfit I brought up earlier. No reason a random chef in the middle of crowded china town would give a shit if there was a chef he didn't recognize walking around in the crowd.
Also when you're in a full-zip up jumpsuit with only your eyes poking out there's no reason for other co-workers to suspect you.
People talked bad about Blood Moneys disguise system essentially just being keycards to different areas, which is a complaint I can understand, but the way Absolution handled disguises was definitely flawed. This new game seems to be handling that in a smarter way
