You don't have to permanently avoid politics.
But if its gotten to this point you might want to consider changing your approach to politics.
That doesn't mean joining "the left wing hivemind" but it does mean making less assumptions on what is true or not and delaying judgement if possible.
The desire to be a skeptic is understandable. Just don't forget to be skeptical of your own skepticism.
