Except I did twice.
I personally don't see how you can like both Beatles and Kinks and not like Stones. :smith:
They are just a bit overrated due to the fact a lot of their popularity was based on their imagery rather than their music. Not to say their music was bad but I think a lot of people think of them far more highly than they deserve. I mean the beatles were sort of the same but they actually evolved to the 179th degree where the stones never really did anything "new" or revolutionary past what they accomplished when they first started; though I won't say they never changed.
They brought on Blues-Rock, really. If you listen to early Stones, it's straight up Blues. From there they did evolve into the poppy sorta stuff, but it isn't to say the Stones are bad.
in mans evolution he has created the city and the motor traffic rumble

I agree. It's such an awesome song, and you could say that it even relates to today's times.

one of those songs thats more relevant today than it was when it was written

So "They deserve less attention because their art is not as good" is your excuse.
Fair enough, enjoy having that train of thought.
okay I will

they weren't the first to do it. the beatles were doing the exact same thing
Nobody is saying Stones are the first to do anything. They're a band with a unique style and they have a catalogue of great albums. What makes you not like them on a musical level?

You do realize that Rock evolved from blues in the late 40's and I'm pretty sure they weren't around back then.
Kind of dumb to not like The Who when you like bands like this also. Makes no sense to me. :psyduck:
Kind of dumb to not like The Who when you like bands like this also. Makes no sense to me. :psyduck:
Because they're not all the same band? :raise:
I do love me some Who every now and then though.

theyre really nothing alike and share only basic similarities imo
Doors, The Who, Stones, Kinks, Beatles, Stooges, Zep, Clash, Smiths... makes no sense to like one and not the other.
Doors, The Who, Stones, Kinks, Beatles, Stooges, Zep, Clash, Smiths... makes no sense to like one and not the other.
thats a pretty sweeping generalization
Doors, The Who, Stones, Kinks, Beatles, Stooges, Zep, Clash, Smiths... makes no sense to like one and not the other.
That's probably one of the most musically ignorant things I've heard in a while.
And from Akayz too.
thats a pretty sweeping generalization
I know, but that's how I role. :pcgaming:
I know, but that's how I role. :pcgaming:
i love the who and the kinks but im not a big fan of the others, theyre honestly nothing alike
and I'm ignorant when it comes to music. The "Open-mindedness" advice is a thing of the past, I'm moving straight for the "like it all" persuasion. :smug:

Of course they're nothing alike. Still the same ball part.

So if I like one thing I have to like every single thing related to it?
Elaborate.
You're telling me that because I like the Beatles and the Kinks I'm required to like the Stones and every other band from that era.
You're telling me that because I like the Beatles and the Kinks I'm required to like the Stones and every other band from that era.
Nope. I just listed a few bands that are in the same game for a taste that I wouldn't be surprised for someone to have.

Doesn't sound like that to me.
My favourite band of all time :neckbeard:
Doesn't sound like that to me.
"I listed a few bands" is what I did.
You do realize that Rock evolved from blues in the late 40's and I'm pretty sure they weren't around back then.
I know, but in the 40's Blues was the Black Man's country and jazz and all that jive. The Stones made it cool to do Blues man stream. The Beatles didn't do so much as Blues guitarists, but were all heavily influenced by them. I'm not saying the Stones started Blues, I'm saying that they were unique in their style which they eventually dropped. And now my dad who is a huge Stones fan doesn't really like them past Stones in Exile :v:
on the topic of the Kinks:
Has anyone got Ray Davies' new album? I'm thinking of eventually picking it up to see what it's all about.
