And I'm quite aware that everyone plays games, I'm talking specifically about REAL gamers, the ones like us who are really into them and play FPS's and RPG's, and don't just play solitaire on their computer when on a break.

REAL gamers are fat and pathetic

Casual gaming is not despised, but identifying as a gamer isn't taken that well. It means that you consider gaming to be such an important part of your life that it's the best way to describe you. In other words, you have no life. That is still despised.

We view the average anime user as an outsider. An odd person who creeps us the fuck out. Society doesn't view gamers at all like that. In fact, video games might be the only aspect of you that might help you reintegrate back into some section of society. Video games are probably the only hobby you have that other people can relate to. You should use video games to your advantage.

At this point a lot of FPS's and RPG's are pretty main stream. Hell, I remember a buddy of mine, a fairly popular guy, being obsessed with the Elder Scrolls for almost a year.
