I would love that too, but the multiverse theory can't be right.
Because if all universes with all possibilities exist, then there is one where a great evil lord took power
and he has the ability to wipe out all universes and all possibilities that have ever/will exist.
And not only does he have the power to do this, he has already done it.
And he is called the Great Tillywanga.
But in another universe, a hero came along and prevented this from occurring.
Which universe do we believe since they both occurred?
Related: I wish Doctor Who was real and I had a TARDIS.
I'd love to be in the Star Wars universe or in one of the Portal maps.
I'm actually very interested in the Halo universe. Unlike Star Trek or Mass Effect or some other sci-fi works, Halo's depiction of humanity isn't that everyone's a superhuman and peace is everywhere and perfect and happy, although Halo is neither as dark a universe as Dead Space or Warhammer 40k.
It's more like a gritty, industrial-like future, where humanity has colonized hundreds of worlds but we still use bullets and treads for vehicles, even though we've mastered AI and interstellar travel. The conflict between the UNSC and the Insurrectionists is very similar to the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the greater War on Terror.
The universe's lore and history is rich, altough many people who have only played the games won't really understand. You need to read the novels to really get a sense of how truly deep Halo's universe goes.
Plus, Spartans. Although not everyone is cut out to be a Spartan, they're the best warriors humanity has ever made. 3 Spartans vs. 1,000 U.S. Marines?
They're gonna need more Marines.
The Martian Chronicles (A must read, btw).
I always wondered: What would've happened if Captain York had survived to meet Ylla?
I want to step into that reality, kill Mr. K to prevent him from killing Captain York and see what happens.
Star Wars. I wish I was able to cry (:clint:)so I could express my sorrow over the Star Wars universe not existing.
it could, i mean with that "infinite universes" theory
Imagine Star wars, and not that galactic civil war crap that's portrayed in the movies. I mean the bby. 1000 years of peace. You can go wherever you want in the galaxy, no unecessary wars, no deadly diseases, just peace and prosperity.
I wouldn't mind Half-Life being real, as long as I could be one of the lucky few who had the G-Man (or any other being who found me 'useful') to put me into stasis for the 20 years where Gordon is absent.

Harry Turtledove's Timeline-191 is some great alternate history. It's basically where the South wins the Civil War and events progress from there. It presents an alternate WW1 and WW2.

Fallout 3 really touched my life for a few months. It even got my hooked on Coca-Cola oddly.
Yeah Mass Effect is pretty much how I want the future to turn out
you know, minus the killer machines
I've always considered that feeling of longing and sorrow upon leaving a fictional reality to be the mark of truly great fiction. It means the creators have succeeded in getting past your skeptical, analytical superego and touched some deeper part of your being. And that is a rare thing.
As a method of getting to sleep, i imagine and create an alternate world in my mind, usually to write these ideas down the following morning.
i think of plantand animal species, and the geographic terrain they live on, the culture of these countries, they're history and architecture.
generally it's a world highly advanced in technology, there are 2 sentiment species, Humans and Octopi. the octopi are extremely hive-minded and live for the good of theyre species, not like humans who all want to be individuals ( as in, like here on earth). because of this the octopi are technologically lsuperior and developed safe fusion and other tech they gave to humans. a long history of speciesism on the human side (the octopi couldn't care less) but no war as the humans were afraid of the advanced tech, most of these confrontations as history .the total ratio of humans to octopi in the total population is 1 to 6, so there are much more humans than octopi.
though i have an itching hole in my imaginary world of my where i want to put another sentient species, one that has trouble and war with humans, leading to the massive demise in numbers and close-to-extinction in the history. but in the present day of open mindedness, free religion (or lack thereof, and freedom of speech, the undecided species struggle with public rights, feuds, bigotry and speciesism carrying in from they're history and the and the massive question and controversy on whenever humans and this species can legally marry (unlike the octopi, whose attitudes are absolute no-nonsense, and marrying a human would be a disgrace to it's hive-minded approach to life, and also note that humans and the undecided species cannot breed due to genetic differance)
though i have no idea on how the physical appearance of this species would look, it would have to be relative to us enough that the controversy of marriage and even the notion of it is plausable.
so yeah, i like to imagine stuffs.
Hey, I heard there was this great movie called AVATAR out, maybe you should go watch it.
Playing through Fallout 3, I wished that it was real :c
I've always been fairly obsessed with post-apocalyptic environments, probably starting when I first read I Am Legend a while ago. I was thinking how awesome would it be to live in a version of California that had been ravaged by a mysterious illness that would only allow me to stay out in daylight, and I would have to cower in fear by night in a safe place. Then I read the Road and I was wishing I could be traveling the lands described in that book, avoiding capture by cannibals and sweeping every abandoned car, cabin, house, whatever for food and water to stay alive. Fallout 3 was the closest I think I'll ever get to living that, and even though a nuclear fallout would be the shittiest thing ever, I would still like to live in one, maybe one day when virtual reality has evolved to that point
Disturbing....
Ever since I heard about World War 2 I thought it was the best fictional setting ever. It would be cool to go and be guard at Auschwitz or be a Japanese man Kamikazeeing planes. Overall World War 2 is filled with such depth and culture that I wish I was there.
So you want to exterminate jews or commit suicide in an areoplane?

I like it because it'd be natural selection all over again. Survival of the fittest. Leaving pretty much only the strongest and smartest to survive.
Anybody think about what Parappa the Rapper would be like?
All you need is a wacky catchphrase and rhythmic abilities, and boom. You're set for life. :v:

Did you just call World War 2 a fictional setting?
I wish I could be Forrest Gump.
Retarded? :smug:
No, I wish I was good at ping pong.
Welcome to escapism.
We can't complain about what we never saw.
This is why, for someone, a perfect world always look like something that he saw in a movie/tv show, a game or a book.
I sometimes with the Warhammer Universe was a real place, not 40K, that's a bit too grimdark to want to live in, but Warhammer Fantasy...It's somehow darker, but at the same time lighter, and there's so much going on and it's so... I don't know, I just love it.

I'd love to live on a Pleasure World, or that world where everything is identical to an idyllic Merry England.
I'd love to live on a Pleasure World, or that world where everything is identical to an idyllic Merry England.
That I would, but the idea that a Hive Fleet or a WAAGH or a Dark Eldar raiding party or....any of the 40K gribblies being within arms reach isn't as comforting. I just like the idea of WHF for some reason :3:
the whole multiverse thing where another universe destroys ours but doesn't because in another one we were saved reminds me of that mysterious particle the hadron collider guys claimed that they created, but it went back in time and prevented itself from being created...

I think part of the allure of fictional realities is the abstract concepts they present that when we compare and contrast with our own realities, we get a clearer and more pessimistic view of our own reality so we tend to long to those fictional realities:frown:. Well, at least that's what i feel.
I just read OP's other threads.
