Gonna miss my shiny name and my 80x160 animated avatar though. Heck, some people probably won't recognize me without it. [sp]implying anyone really knows me[/sp]
You're rememberable. Also merging our gold accounts will give some bonuses to us, probably.
You need an unused mobile phone number to create a Google account. Facebook was less of a hassle
Oh, didn't know they required that now my bad
Oh, didn't know they required that now my bad
It's nothing really
To be fair, we already have a dumb rating which I think gets you banned if you just said "you're dumb".
Dumb rating is saying "this post is dumb", or "what you said is dumb", not saying "YOU are dumb". You can call somebody's opinion dumb without flaming them ad hominem style. If you were to post in a thread responding to somebody saying the US government planned 9/11, saying "This is dumb, the government couldn't pull off a coverup like this, etc...." You wouldn't get banned. If you instead said "You're dumb, the government couldn't pull off a coverup like this, etc..." You would get banned. There's no context in which you could call somebody a child molester in a post and not got banned for it, short of if somebody literally admitted to molesting children, which the mods have explicitly said is not the expected use of the rating. The mods explicitly said the child molester rating exists because it's hilarious that somebody would try to insult somebody else by calling them a child molester. And while the shock value of sticking it on the beta forums is funny for a bit, it would be an awful idea to leave it in permanently.
Ratings exist because the alternative is saying "I agree" which takes up literally thousands of times more pixel space than a rating does.
yea the only way I get any attention is from my avatar choices
Thats bad.
I don't really like the idea of ratings that aren't just adjectives (or concepts like Winner). Baby, Asshole, and Child Molester felt funny the first time I saw it but afterwards it doesn't really fit, and they all seem redundant.
what's the link to newpunch to reserve my username?
Thats bad.
im a bad man.
Why are the avatars 64 x 64, what happened to the nice avatars we have now?
Why are the avatars 64 x 64, what happened to the nice avatars we have now?
you use coins to increase your avatar size
For example, "useful" is often used to call someone a tool
Wait, people really do this?
you use coins to increase your avatar size
Microtransactions in my forums? Why?
Why are the avatars 64 x 64, what happened to the nice avatars we have now?
Garry thought it would be more fun if you had to shitpost hundreds/thousands of times before you get your old avatar size back. [editline]12th November 2017[/editline] Technically not that different from the system we have now except with Garry's Facepunch-brand funbucks instead of time.
Garry thought it would be more fun if you had to shitpost hundreds/thousands of times before you get your old avatar size back.
except it's not tied solely to how much you post but a whole bunch of stuff that i dont know the specifics of. and also people can give you coins
Microtransactions in my forums? Why?
Boostar called
except it's not tied solely to how much you post but a whole bunch of stuff that i dont know the specifics of. and also people can give you coins
I like the idea of the mechanics behind FP Coins being invisible, but unless it's REALLY abstracted, people will try and figure out how they work and game the system, minmaxing their posts to get as many coins as possible. That's the disadvantage of gamifying systems. You have to account for people powergaming.

Can I asked for this to be turned on a while before we shut down just for statistics n shit
Since the whole coin payment per pixel thing is happening, does the file upload size increase with that, or just stay permanently set? If it doesn't increase I can see people just getting it to a certain size before spending the coins on other things.
Wow newpunch is fast. Really liking it so far.
Wow newpunch is fast. Really liking it so far.
For the most part it is, but when I load the OIFY thread it takes like two minutes to load the page. Obviously, there is a considerable amount of spam in it (no media however), but on oldpunch the page would have loaded within seconds. Does it take a while to load the page for anyone else?

[editline]11th November 2017[/editline] Scrolling is also really unresponsive.
Newpunch is consistently as slow or slower than oldpunch for me. Not that it matters because it wasn't that slow to begin with.

Was it said that it was being looked into that current gold members might get something special on newpunch? Because I think I remember hearing that gold member won't be a thing on the new forums. A good special thing should be letting us start off with an 80x160 avatar. :v:
What's going to happen to the old forums after this?
Garry made a sticky
What's going to happen to people who already had gold membership?
