Yeah, I don't want to drag my muddy shoes across the place but I spoke to Sobotnik at length, and they agreed to seek some kind of help or at least speak to some real trans people beyond the ones that hurt them, so that this kind of fucking horrendous, negative view won't persist and make them into even more of a shitcunt. I severed contact with him after that.

Because it'd be nice to see people who've been part of the forums for quite some time actually solve their issues and get back to some form of normalcy. We lose a lot more members than you'd expect because they just go off the deep and and enter a death spiral of stupid choices. Sobotniks case in particular eludes me...at some point fairly recently their posts just started shifting to inane pseudo-intellectual /pol/ tier ramblings about degeneracy and shit. I can't recall them ever being remotely that bad for many years. The older members of this forum, even if we don't interact all that much, are still a fairly tight-knit community. Everyone knows the posting habits of almost everyone and you can tell when another member is going through shit because of that. It does suck to see someone just totally go off the deep end, but at the same time posts like the one that got Sobotnik banned are fucking atrocious even for the subject of the thread.

That thread made me want to fucking die and there's no way I'm alone because lots of people in it certainly have much more significant things to deal with in their lives than I do.

What's the policy on FP Discord conduct? Is it answerable to Forum mods?

As the maker of the thread I'm probably biased, but I think the thread was a success. This is a very obviously trans-friendly forum. There is nothing wrong with that. But it occurred to me that a userbase this big must have people that aren't as trans-friendly and this thread revealed to me that indeed, many users are on the fence or even against this kind of stuff. It's very interesting to see just how many posts are "I don't really have an opinion I just respect it because I like respecting people". Do you think that is 'trans-supporting" or do you think that's someone that simply doesn't understand it but respects it regardless? Isn't it interesting to know that many people here don't even think about or understand a very controversial and hot topic in the modern world? Then of course, there's the users that are in the gray area, most having issues with some things here, or some things there. I've learned a lot about what people think when it comes to transgender stuff, as well as the issues and reasons they give for their beliefs. It's amazingly interesting to read through and see what people think, so I (and hopefully others!) can better understand what makes the 'opposition' tick. Even moreso, I found it absolutely fascinating seeing many of the rebuttals from trans people and their supporters! I myself tend not to mix with trans communities/groups. We generally don't get along. But I'm very happy to see what they think and how it sometimes coincides or goes against what I think is best as well. It's all just very interesting to have what is essentially a 9 page thread of extremely different opinions clashing against each other. Sure there was some heated potentially not needed debates, as well as some unfortunate dirty laundry being thrown about. But all in all, I'm actually very happy with it! (Also, some people are using the thread to learn more about transgender people as well. It's a learning experience all around.)

Sobotnik does indeed visit places with more right wing influence for debate these days. He realises himself that the posts were terrible. He had a point under there somewhere based on his own personal experiences - maybe quite a good one, with the crap cut out, but it's hard to ignore the fact that while he didn't explicitly put peoples names in the post, it could only have upset the people who knew it was about them. However... certain members I think dropped even below his level in the wake of it by contacting him and using his personal history to suggest he should kill himself.
