The mods don't really seem to have any problem with banning low effort posts and people who care too much about ratings as long as it's reported, so I'm sure people trying to game the system will get banned quickly on newpunch. Obviously there will be some minor annoyances with it here and there, since you can't idiotproof a forum.

No? I mean, most FPers are probably left of center but I'd hardly call it "left centric". There is no central ideology that runs through FP, no political structure whatsoever. It's probably just a wording thing but calling a forum that has twoish sections out of about two dozen as "left-centric" kind of inaccurate. But even then if you just want to talk about the general population and what sorts of posts get made, I'd consider FP solidly center-left. If you toss out spoilers like healthcare and climate change you see a community that leans left on economics and the environment, but leans right on topics like firearm regulation. The actual, legitimate far-left posters (those that haven't been banned, at least) catch just as much shit as the far-right/alt-right folks.

No it's pretty accurate, the advice given for certain people who have outright admitted to trolling is to just ignore them. Then when people say that the ignore feature isn't sufficiently developed then the argument just becomes "get over it". "to sanction" means "to approve" so maybe approval is a strong word but I'd definitely say it's looking the other way, as it were.

Fuck, typing out "felt fear" when referring to an internet forum shows how bizarre this comment is.

iirc that's a common tactic for bots and trolls on reddit to build karma (or in this case, postcount) and seem legit. Might be interesting to see if that account starts spewing Russian propaganda in a few days.
