100 posts for 1 coin is too much work son, I much rather do the daily AFK quest for 2 coins
Fast Thread posts do count now, however. So it's easier now.
Facepunch Discord is still a thing right? The invite link in the "More" tab has expired so if anyone could hit me up with a new invite to it would be much appreciated!
Facepunch Discord is still a thing right? The invite link in the "More" tab has expired so if anyone could hit me up with a new invite to it would be much appreciated!
check the bottom of the general forum section

The one in the more tab requires FTP access to fix.
Ah thank you both, it appears I'm blind!
[sp] shit works dw I’m just bad at typing my email[/sp]
fuck in other news, god damn the avatar progression gets pricey very quickly. already used up my measly 53 coins and i'm only at 69x69
rip Also RE it taking forever to upgrade your avatar from just straight up browsing: this could be where participating in community events could come into play. Something like maybe a big coin reward for taking part in an FP contest or maybe admins being able to give out coins for taking part in any FP hosted game nights (like MY HL1DM SERVER) so you can get awarded for participation, more so based on how you do. That could work nicely as a way to more quickly level up beyond just browsing while also building upon a sense of community I’d think. (Not saying that’s what’s happening, just making a suggestion)
Maybe the community events could be actually good instead of requiring coinfarming to be tied to it?
Why are you assuming the two are mutually exclusive or something lol. Rewarding people for taking part in events is just something on top of everything else to help encourage more people to join in.
Too bad Europe won't play on your DM server.
Their loss lol, but hey that’s why we have more servers in other places and other mods that can host things. There’s plenty of options to make shit work for everyone, it doesn't have to be that one specific example I gave lol

I’m not a fan of half life but I’d love some Left 4 Dead community events, I still have fun with that game lol.
No we’ve had plenty of people who play from Europe. And it’s in Miami which is literally the closest it will ever be. Putting up another in EU would just choke the player base(we already see this with the TF2 ones)
At 6-7 a.m.? Really now?
How exactly do you connect new and oldpunch?
Too bad Europe won't play on your DM server.
Sounds like Americans trying to get into track days in the sim racing thread.
L4D is horrible to host and eats too much resources.
Idk shit about hosting but would you not just use the official servers or do those not exist anymore? I’m bad with computer.
Every time I've played HLDM on postal's server the movement has been so ridiculously stuttery and laggy that it makes it almost unplayable. If it weren't for the people I'm playing it with I wouldn't enjoy it at all.
i would love some organized FP L4D2 versus personally.

If we were to put more weight behind community events, obviously we'd get more mods involved to supervise things and host events at different times for different things on different servers hosted in different places. Use your imagination a little here. this could also benefit from an idea i made before in the early days of this new punch discussion in moderator chat
What about having something at the top of the main forum page that lists what sorta community events are going on now/soon, like a community bulletin board? So like if there's a game of half-life deathmatch that's currently going on in the Games In Progress subforum through one of our official servers it'd be listed there with a link to quickly join the server, or if there's a contest being run in Creationism Corner it gives a link to the relevant thread + deadline, or maybe even just a thread of the week highlight. Just a quick spot for everyone to glance at and see what sorta big stuff is going on in the community. Could be nice and a great way to quickly organize stuff with everyone, and not just the people that happen to read the forums discussion thread in general discussion.
~if~ we did something like this, the events could get more exposure and way more people would notice them and take part, instead of just the people that lurk the forums discussion thread and the games in progress thread. Make things into big enough events and throw in some silly forum rewards on top and it could be pretty gr8 fun again tho this is all just random suggestions, not anything that's set to happen
Official ones are dead and are now run by some shit pinot something that literally lag like hell.
Even for L4D2? That succs.
It worked for me when I used my email, not my username.
Thanks, this worked.
I only post if I really have something to add to the topic, I probably read 20 threads (from start to finish) before posting once. Can coins be obtained by lurkers that only rate or I'll be forced to say dumb shit in as many threads as possible? Thread snipping for coins here we go?

Mashing F5 doesn't.
Even for L4D2? That succs.
I've had pretty decent times with official servers in the US I don't know what Kiwi is talking about there. "Best available dedicated" sucks because you just get modded servers, but the Pinion servers for L4D2 aren't always bad. They sometimes have glitchy health with pills however. If someone promises they have good internet they could host from their machine too - only issue there is if they modded the game.
Honestly, community event stuff should be left to likely after the site is launched, the whole concept of earning coins off them is kinda eh and a tad unfair. Not everyone will get a chance and while I know you love HL1DM, I personally fucking hate having to play against you with 160ms and other than that, hasn't really been much appeal to do anything else currently, but that can change. Wish I didn't fuckup now because I'd be so down to organizing this shit in the future.
