If the coins are meaningless why did you create them as a gamification of an internet forum (User was permabanned for this post ("ZING" - garry))
Uuuh mods [editline]20th November 2017[/editline] Someone call Hezzy

Think complaining about the coin system awards as it currently stands isn't really fair considering its not even a finished system. Criticism would be far more useful towards the time the forums actually do ship out, everything you see currently is clearly subject to change. The focus should be more about suggesting functionality currently instead of the minor details, good example would be other stuff to use your god damn coins for or stuff thats actually useful, like the links to threads on the frontpage linking to the most recent unread post instead of the OP and so on.

I think everyone here knows that things aren't final, and that's probably why they're giving feedback in the first place.
its not done so pretend it's perfect?
Way to twist words, the 2nd line clearly states the system is not perfect but its early development. Better to get the functionality established then can mess with the math and shit after. Its not like additional coins and shit can't be thrown at your accounts if decided.
tbh I do like the idea of coins for cool perks, but it should evolve into something greater than just avatar sizes, though that's probably planned Changing custom titles, text only VS enhanced would be pretty slick also [t]https://i.imgur.com/cpUuivV.png[/t] oh my god lol

The only impression that we have to go off of is what we currently see. We can't offer feedback based on a hypothetical that's further along the line in development.
...like the links to threads on the frontpage linking to the most recent unread post instead of the OP and so on.
hah, I assumed you had to click the thread icon for this, I guess because of the new post count on it can kinda see it being useful though, especially on mobile - 99% of the time if you've seen a thread before you want to see the new posts, the other 1% you can just click page 1
(User was permabanned for this post ("ZING" - garry))
??? :bullshit:
what's the point in opening it up to the public at all if he doesn't want feedback then?
Don't kid yourself, it's always been "his way or the highway", except in this case both are "his way" anyway. Not a very good attitude in running a forum imo.

While users have in the past contributed somewhat to the upkeep, it's been primarily out of his pocket. Hence the lack of democracy. Hell, he'd probably have killed it off entirely earlier if not for having found renewed use for it.

Except, it's not and it alienates people really hard. Like me right now. Am I gonna be banned now for speaking out?
that's not our fault and it shouldn't be our problem
Well yeah, but complaining that he does what he pleases with what he pays for is a bit fruitless at the end of the day.

I'm sure that if Garry didn't want to pay for the upkeep for FP, the userbase would be more than willing to pick up the tab. (Notice: I have no idea even remotely how much FP costs/mo to run).
I think we all understand that this is Garry's forums so he can do what ever he wants. It's just annoying to be told that feedback is welcome. But the feedback box is just a trashcan with "feedback" wirtten on it.
Are you implying microtransactions? So what about those who paid the toll once before?
What? No. How does that even correlate? I was saying that additional coins can be added to your account by the site if need be, not you buying them.
Well yeah, but complaining that he does what he pleases with what he pays for is a bit fruitless at the end of the day.
If garry doesn't want to own this forum, and he'd admitted as such on atleast one occasion, why not sell/give it to Hezzy or Postal? I think there's more than enough people here willing to pay for the upkeep.

Of course Garry can do as he wants, but there is no need for him to get rude about it. Even if you don't like what other people are saying. Him getting snappy just makes everyone upset, and really I don't see how anyone can defend the perma. It would be pleasant if people can just cool off and get along. Lots of people are worried about the new forums and ideally the community leaders should be understanding.

This from someone for whom the forums mean so much that i've stuck around for over 12 years, throughout all that's gone on in the forums and my own life.
Moderators aren’t really at liberty to reverse anything Garry does, so I really don’t reccommend sending us PMs about it. It’s kind of out of our hands.
How much is it for server costs/upkeep of the FP forums? Just out of curiosity..
