I'm only pointing it out to him so he takes a second to consider saying something that could be offensive to the person he's speaking to next time and also point out why mazthamind was angry at his post.

So if Newpunch gets an ignore feature. Can it actually do more then just telling you "this user is on your ignore list". Like making it to where you can't even tell anymore if that user is on the website or not? Example: Outright not seeing their posts. Not seeing the posts that quote posts from the ignored user, not seeing their ratings. You know. What blocking/ignoring systems do on like every other website

They simply no longer exist when they are on your ignore list.[/QUOTE] Personally think that's a terrible idea, should only hide their posts and live a minimal "Ignored" message, hiding quote posts is dumb as it means you'll be missing on active discussions and ratings are icons that don't mean shit other than coin and diamond on there. You're asking for a rather extreme version which will actually harm the site and also make the person who is outright ignoring a user, if they can't see [I]any of their content or content that quotes them[/I] look stupid when they either quote the exact same thing or say something counter intuitive. Or maybe it's just me thinking that ignore functions are stupid when you can just skip over their posts, never personally used the ignore function even on vB or anywhere else to say.

I've always been curious why people use the ignore feature. Forums are about discussion, it seems strange to cut out opinions that don't break the rules just because the person has said things you didn't like in the past.

Bet a whole lot of people used the ignore feature because other people disagreed with them on the viewpoints of that thread.

There's literally no reason to use the ignore feature if you don't feel the need to live in a personal echo chamber where nobody can contradict you, let alone to call for its function to be [I]expanded[/I] to just [I]completely delete all traces of users you don't like[/I] from your version of the site. You know what I do when I don't feel like being contradicted? I don't go on internet forums used by thousands of people and express my opinions.
