did hezzy forgot about the community fund? haven't seen the monthly report
He spent all the money on coke.
Still no log-in option that doesn't feel like a assreaming without lube.
Its never getting a stand-alone login system as much as you keep crying about it. Just wait for the Steam openid login to get added if you wanna be that anal about it. Garry has already explained his reasoning for using a portal based login system rather than a traditional.
What I've wanted in the case of news titles for a while is for them to be labelled with which country they're relevant to. Just a little [US], [GB], [AU] or even [EU]. A nice and simple prefix. Sometimes it's obvious who it's related to but a lot of the time it's not.

So kiwi do I get my 10 coins :v:
No offence but can you mods do something about aussie news threads popping up all over the news section? Its alright if its somewhat international, but its usually very local news that only would be interesting to aussies. Like the one below https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1587579 Besides, its a terrible af title.
Ooh, this gives me a Newpunch idea: Allow news articles to be marked with a specific country flag or global icon. [editline]2nd December 2017[/editline] Yooo there's an issue with LMAO pics. Going to page 108 results in being redirected to this image. [editline]2nd December 2017[/editline]
That's weird but it's not happening for me. That image isn't even on that page, wtf
What the fuuuck. I tried adblocking the image, didn't do anything. I can't see the page by any means [editline]2nd December 2017[/editline] Noscript lets me view the page for a few seconds, but it still redirects.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/6XCPuGM.png[/t] Here is the cause. If you use that URL it takes you to a redirect page and then that image appears.
Thank you! Putting them on my ignore list (at least temporarily while the post is still there) keeps me from being redirected. The second I click to see that post, it redirects me :v:
Still no log-in option that doesn't feel like a assreaming without lube.
Still not entirely sure what the hang-up on OpenID login is. It's secure af, more secure than a traditional login system. And you almost certainly have one of the account types it requires lying around as it is. The only thing that the OpenID system will get from that account is a unique identifier that Google/ Twitter/ Steam (when available) provides the server after you log in on their (likely more) secure services (not to say FP is inherently insecure). Unless the forum requests extra account information, in which case you need to approve that anyway so w/e.
Still no log-in option that doesn't feel like a assreaming without lube.
You really think Google or Facebook is going to be worse at handling your login credentials than Garry?
I think it's moreso the requirement of facebook/google, not the security. Lots of people don't want or need those services and prefer to leave their footprint on the internet as small as possible.
Not having a Facebook I understand, but I'm a little bewildered about not having a Google account... Maybe it's just because I've locked myself into their ecosystem for years upon years now [sp]help me, there is no escape[/sp] but using the internet without Google seems very alien and difficult to me.
did hezzy forgot about the community fund? haven't seen the monthly report
No, I wasn't available to post it. The new report is up now.
Still no log-in option that doesn't feel like a assreaming without lube.
Are you not being a bit melodramatic?
Still no log-in option that doesn't feel like a assreaming without lube.
Is it that bad to just make a throwaway account if you don't have Google or Facebook?

[editline]2nd December 2017[/editline]
Is it that bad to just make a throwaway account if you don't have Google or Facebook?
Apparently you have to have a phone number to make a google account now. But I've made them without it within the past month, so I don't know what people are on.
You can make one without a phone number, it just asks.
Reposting It's really really inconsistent but I hit it 100% of the time
Let me sign in with my former middle school's library book management system [editline]2nd December 2017[/editline] Shit someone else is probably 204359 by now
Reposting It's really really inconsistent but I hit it 100% of the time
Is that a blumankranz remix in the background?
For those who keep rating me "late" when I mention Steam login for Newpunch, I apologise, I didn't realise it was already available. My mistake. Could you please link to it since it exists and I'm late for not knowing where it is? Thanks!
It's not, you're just not the first one to ask for it.

Can I ask a mod of GD is the right place for a christmas avatars thread? It's traditionally where it's been posted but I figured I'd ask.
So no Christmas cards this year?
If it's never been an issue I don't see why not.
Alright cool. [editline]3[/editline] Oh god I haven't made a thread in like 5 years and have completely forgotten how to do it.
Having multiple people ask emphasises the importance/interest in a certain feature and may help garry prioritise
I wouldn't call it important, I honestly don't know why people have a problem with using a Google account to sign in. People that want to keep their "online footprint" low are just as annoying and insane as the living off the grid survivalist types, except even more so since they still use the same thing they don't want to track them. Is it really that hard to make a fake Google account, or, maybe actually have a Google account to use in the first place?
Is that a blumankranz remix in the background?
Probably, as far as I remember I was just listening to a feed on soundcloud at the time
So no Christmas cards this year?
they owe me one because i sent a card and i never got anything back
Ah, but you see... this is how the rest of the world feels towards the daily barrage of US-specific news threads, both political and non-political. Just because a country isn't a superpower doesn't mean they can't have their news posted even if you don't think it's important. I'm always happy to see more non-US news articles both big and small because I like learning about the outside world instead of the same rise-and-repeat of US news.
I agree, but the aussie ones are extremely local, and of very little interest. If its funny enough, interesting enough etc. sure, but it has to be somewhat relevant to the community to understand. What If I started flooding the sections with everyday news of local car crash victim, some fights in a small bar? Eventually no one will give a shit.
