I haven't really been following how the new forums work, do we also get coins over time or just from posts? 30k+ sounds a little ridiculous, you'd have to hit J!NX levels of posting to get any decent avatar upgrade

from what i've seen it's based primarily on just account activity, like browsing the forum and such. just spamming posts won't make much impact. that said tho you will get a coin bonus from your post count when migrating your old account

You only get coins for migrating once. The coins you get are according to your postcount here and not on the new forums.

You log in using Google or Facebook, and then you migrate your old account to it.

You create an account with your Google/Facebook account so that they handle the password/authentication side of things, then you merge it with this account through a link which I think is in the op.

I can understand that being a blanket rule for everyone who messages the dev/mods over rust bans etc, but some discretion maybe? This is all a bit rather silly.

The rule clearly says "under no circumstances". That leaves no room for discretion unless Hezzy decides to change it. And since he has expressed no desire to change it, that's kind of the end of it.

There are any number of related FP discords you can join to keep chatting with pals if you so desire. And you're not banned from the forum.

I'm not too fussed. Would have enjoying keeping access to it, and would have hoped some more thought would have gone into this situation based on the length of my stay with Facepunch forums, but eh whatever.

How can you get "permission" to contact a mod or staff member if you're not allowed to ask them in the first place?

You can PM a Discord moderator if you want. What's out of the question is using the Discord @ feature to ping all of the staff/moderators at once. Especially for junk that doesn't need the immediate attention of all FP Staff and Moderators. ESPECIALLY since the Staff and Moderators are two different teams that don't usually communicate very often and handle two completely separate things.

In short: Leave FP staff alone and PM a mod if you really have an issue with anything besides the fact that your Rust server is broken or something.
