It's about an elevator that has electrical problems or some shit due to the maker giving it a computer chip made out of human brains or something. Shit sucks. When the movie was over I was just thinking about how pointless the movie was.
2012 was exactly what a movie encapsulating the end of the world should have been. All the things people complain about in 2012 are the reason you go to SEE disaster movies like this.
I think people are way too hard on Rolland Emmerich. Yeah, his movies tend to be pretty silly, but they're always well-made. He understands visual storytelling in a way Michael Bay probably inwardly WISHES he could. It was a fun movie on a massive scale that conveyed the imminent global extinction in ways that still boggle my eyes. It's not every movie you see an entire city breaking into chunks the size of a square mile and watching them plummet into oblivion, or see a supervolcano eruption that looks like a pyroclastic nuke.
