The beginning of games is where you need money the most,
Then upgrade the wallet as soon as possible.
Problem most probably solved.
Still really don't know what to think about the game yet.
But, I bet you could make a pretty gritty Vietnam FPS on this engine.
I hated that in Bioshock. The max you could carry was $500, the counter had 4 digits. Why tease me like that?!
I just cheated it after a bit so I didn't mind :v:
that or spend spend spend
Sometimes realism isn't fun, like only being able to carry like 2 weapons or weapons degrading.
2 weapons max is good, so long as they add no "Limit" AKA smallgun/big gun.
just like in Stalker:CoP, sniper with a street sweeper, lovely combo. You can hold guns in your bag and swap however.
realism in a game like... Unreal though? Duke Nukem? Fuck no, that's obnoxious. What ever happened to the assumed bag of holding?
as for weapon degrading, it's only fun when it's excessively slow and easy to get around. AKA you have to actually beat the shit out of a gun and be a silly fool to have a breaking gun. Every time you pick up an enemies gun it was shitty, but, they worked with it fine? Whys that? and they would have cleaned it.
Weapon degrading also shouldn't apply to an ak47. That gun can be lit on fire with a drum mag and constantly fired, and it wouldn't jam. And yet, it's in 80% condition in Stalker and the shit jams like an office printer. It's like... are you shitting me?
[editline]20th October 2012[/editline]
realism in games
pick up ak47
shoot it
IT JAMS CONSTANTLY
stab someone in the foot
THEY DIE INSTANTLY
shoot them in the head with a barret .50 cal, and then fire off an entire mag of a 357 into their crotch
THEY SURVIVE
looks like a fun rental
I still miss the mercenaries and the mutant things and all those top secret military bases and shit.
I still miss the mercenaries and the mutant things and all those top secret military bases and shit.
Those mutants scared the fuck out of me. First Far Cry is still in my top 10 of best games ever.
NICE!!!
Okay? good thing I was talking about crysis on pc then
Then you just compared a game being demonstrated on the xbox 360 to a game maxed out on the PC.
I just showed you the same game you were talking about, praising the graphics, on the xbox 360 to give a proper comparison.
i think that this video was made on the pc ver with maxed graphics, with a 360 pad plugged in, at least, that is the case usually.
Usually the case is demonstrating on an xbox as it's the most widely used and accessible platform.
as long as they have a dedicated PC version and not some shitty console port, I'm in.
Is far cry 3 coming to steam?
Yeah, they posted something on their twitter about it some time ago

Honestly it's way more likely it's a PC with a 360 controller plugged in
Jesus, tropical bears. And i thought regular bears were bad.
Anyways, the graphics look amazing. Reminds me a lot of the vibrant graphics used in just cause 2.
One of the things that annoys me, though, is how marking npcs with your camera lets you see them through walls. Seems like it makes the player lazy if " we dont expect you to try to predict where someone will be, so we'll just highlight them so you dont have to think too hard". Also, the highlighting of boxes, objectives, and animal carcasses kinda kills the atmosphere. It kinda pulls you out of the game, and just dumbs it down a bit, like the developer feels like you have to be constantly reminded that a chest can be opened, or an animal skinned

I agree; I never really liked the whole marking enemies mechanic. It's almost as bad as the super-heat-sensing-vision in Crysis 2 that was TOO helpful, and too easy to abuse in any situation. So instead of running through the fog or smoke waiting for things to jump out at you you can just flick on heat vision and pop aliens off before they've got time to sneeze
ubisoft has gone complete bonkers with holding the players' hand throughout their latest games. mark and execute, seeing enemies through walls etc.
seems like they managed tocontain themselves in far cry 3. it looks pretty nice actually. I am amazed to see a good ubisoft game for once.
This is Crysis 1 on the xbox 360
That's Crysis on the PC.
This is what Crysis looks like on the Xbox:

Note the lack of foliage.
is that a korean carrying a shipping pallet as a shield?
This looks awesome, but it always irks me how in theese demos they walk around like dolls, moving the camera around really smoothly and not playing like you normally would. I know they do it because thats how a demo should be, but it looks so fake :v:

I'm pretty sure that they played on easy and alot of those features will get removed while playing on hard.
I wish there was more knockback to the player though, you just don't get attacked by a bear removing 90% of your life/armor without even flinching.
And a Super Kriss (vector) sold by some guy in a poor tropical island?
Maybe he imports
I hope it wasn't shown on pc, the graphics are not refined enough to be pc, or maybe it's the compression rape.
I hope I can disable shit like seeing enemies through walls and the crosshair and the minimap and shit.

Realism in games:
Pick up an AK47 - Shoot it - It explodes in your hands.
Pick up a twig - Poke someone - They die instantly.
Take a low powered pistol - Shoot someone's knee - Headshot - Rank up.
Get shot in the shoulder - Pull a bullet out of your hand.
Get ill - Just overdose on some antibiotics, and you'll feel better!
Shoot someone with a silenced sniper rifle from 50 meters away - The world is now focused on your location.
Break your car - Tighten a bolt and it'll be fixed in approximately 3 seconds.
I could continue with this list forever.

the only realistic video game ever made, ever.

Agreed.
Hey, this looks pretty promising.
If the PC version is any good (with FOV options please), I think this'll be worth a pickup.
R'yleh confirmed for farcry 3
well it better have predator mode
