You dont have to fast travel or tag enimies.
That's no excuse for poor game design/handholding.
look at all these completely optional features i'm mad about! grrrr
"you don't have to" isn't an excuse for terrible game design
I don't know about you, but I like choice, even choices like this. Some days I might feel lazy and want to fast travel, at least it'll be there.
look at all these completely optional features i'm mad about! grrrr
Maybe its because those features are boring and unoriginal?
That's no excuse for poor game design/handholding.
Uh yes it is, these features are there to make the game easier for people who are bad at games, if you're not bad at games you don't use them and you don't have to come into contact wit hthem.
Well either way the game still isn't impressive at all. All my anticipation for it just died the moment I saw the video.
Maybe its because those features are boring and unoriginal?
then don't fucking use them
Far Cry 2 seems to be an incredibly divisive game. I don't know that I've seen such a love-it-or-hate-it reaction before.
i dont know what yo guys say but i just really like this game dident liked much far cry 2 but i really like what i see in FC3
then don't fucking use them
When was this ever a valid way to solve problems in a game? If the inventory is designed poorly for the PC (which it probably will be) I should just not pick up items or try to change weapons. Or if the combat is terribly easy I guess I'll just stand in the open and let myself get shot.
That's no excuse for poor game design/handholding.
Fast travel is not poor game design. Not having it in a large world is, however. Do you know how boring it can get after running through the same beach for the 50th time?

This is the same as people who complained about fast travel in Fallout 3 when that swung around.
You're so pessimistic my god
I think you're being too optimistic. I'm sure the game is pretty good on many levels like the feel of the weapons and the huge map to explore. But I'm simply calling the game for what I'm seeing in the video. When a developer releases a video like this they are likely going to choose footage that shows off the best the game has to offer, and honestly it's just not that impressive. It's 2012, Far Cry 2 came out in 2008 and wasn't much different to this game. I want to see some innovation and some forward progression with these FPS games. The open world is a cool idea but from what I saw it looks like a pretty bland world filled with bandit bases and random wild animals. It seems like it's just Far Cry 2 with a few gimmicky features tacked on like the randomly generated hunting quests and the crafting system which will likely be really simplified. Like I said, I'm just posting the impressions I got of the game from the video. I just don't feel it was worth the wait for this game as it seems pretty fucking generic in a lot of ways. You do realize I had other concerns about the game, right? You should try to come up with your own argument besides "hurrdurr don't like it then don't use it" which has already been done to death.
i jumped on the one complaint because it's the one we've been focusing on the most, if you'd take half a second to look through the page. i haven't even presented a counter argument which really makes me think you didn't bother to even read my post, all i said was your comparison was bullshit because the two things you said aren't of equal relevance to the game
So you saw other people posting shit about the fast travel so you decided it would be a good idea to post about only that as well. You're on an internet forum, try to at least form your own opinion or posts. And don't tell me I didn't bother to read your worthless post when you didn't even spend more than a few seconds thinking it up or even reading mine.
So you saw other people posting that shit so you decided it would be a good idea to post the same thing.
once again, "i haven't even presented a counter argument which really makes me think you didn't bother to read my post, all i said was your comparison was bullshit because the two things you said aren't of equal relevance to the game". if you had READ, you'd know nobody has said that apart from spekter whom I hadn't noticed until now.
once again, "i haven't even presented a counter argument which really makes me think you didn't bother to read my post, all i said was your comparison was bullshit because the two things you said aren't of equal relevance to the game"
And there you go contradicting yourself. I don't think you even realize what a counter argument is.
I don't think you even realize what a counter argument even means.
wow how descriptive thanks for enlightening me on my faulty definition [editline]e[/editline] im still waiting for you to tell me what a counter-argument is so i can understand how i fucked up
Complaining about fast travel and marking, how pathetic can you guys get? You can play skyrim, fallout, any other game that has fast travel without using it once. You can also play any game with ability to see through walls/heat vision/tagging/whatever without using them at all. A game is only as easy as you make it out to be. Sure it will be easy if you put difficulty to easy and use the tagging ability at all times. But guess what, you don't have to. If anything, fast travel is a great design decision. Like someone said, driving past the same location a thousand times gets boring. All it does is add artificial length to the game. Not all features have to be used in a game. Just because Skyrim has axes does not mean you have to use them. Same here, you don't have to use neither tagging nor fast travel as they're optional and not required to succeed. I personally enjoy tagging and wallhacks since it allows me to do pretty cool stealth, see Batman detective vision for that. You didn't have to use it for combat and that would make it a lot more challenging. If you found it too hard, you could use it and enjoy the game anyway. These features aren't even dumbing the game down like some other games do. All it does is make them a bit more accessible to other people. If anything you should be happy, but all you do is cry and cry. To me FC3 looks like an awesome open world FPS to explore and play. Weapons look nice to me too. As long as it runs fine on PC I will probably get it.
How about we just drop the fast travel thing? I agree it's an optional feature I don't have to use so I likely won't use it when I play the game. [editline]28th October 2012[/editline]
im still waiting for you to tell me what a counter-argument is so i can understand how i fucked up
Google it dumbass.
Google it dumbass.

coun·ter·ar·gu·ment (kountr-ärgy-mnt) n. 1. An argument in opposition to another.
except i wasn't arguing with your point, i was stating your comparison was bad i thought we went over this?
except i wasn't arguing with your point, i was stating your comparison was bad i thought we went over this?
I don't understand the point you're trying to make. Are you trying to say I'm not allowed to respond to your post because you weren't arguing mine?
I don't understand the point you're trying to make. Are you trying to say I'm not allowed to respond to your post because you weren't arguing my posts?
uh yes that's exactly what im saying because the entire reason you responded was to tell me i should think of my own arguments despite how i wasn't arguing, i was saying the comparison you made was flawed.
Your posts aren't very coherent.
yeah because its 4 am and my sentence structure is all broken and shit
this isn't hard to follow.
Your posts aren't very coherent. Please just stop, I'm not going to waste any more of my time responding to you.
