I like how, rather than appreciating the high points of what is really an imperfect art, this whole adaptation thing, so many people can do nothing more but criticize what is already painfully apparent. But that obvious bit aside, the movie was great for me. Seems like they really worked on the effects, making the magic, like the apparating and the pensieve more immersive. I don't remember much of the original storyline, but this was well-done enough that I got the major themes of the book.
Because he made an Unbreakable Vow to protect Draco and to make sure whatever he has to do is done no matter what. And Draco is told to kill Dumbledore by Voldemort
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT If you read the HP7 book it says it's because Dumbledore knew he was already dying because of his blackened hand he obtained from destroying one of the horcruxes and he ordered Snape to kill him. I think it was so Snape could have the Elder Wand but that's just a guess/hypothesis
wait dobby died? I don't remember that I always liked dobby
[sp] yeah dobby was killed by Bellatrix when she was throwing a knife. It was stupid as his last words were 'harry potter.' pfft.[/sp]
They didn't show Dobby dying in the movie, did they? That was kinda harsh, considering as how important he was back in Chamber of Secrets/Prisoner of Azkaban. And lol, its not much of a cliffhanger if you've read the last book. Thats one sole reason this movie can be a standalone film, even though its part of an eight-movie series.
Nah he dies in the last book.
Just saw it. It was pretty good, not the best one though. I hate that the entire ending was basicly gone. (Weres my big battle :()
In all of those damn movies there's a bird flying in the distance at the end. What the fuck.
By the way. That Luna look-alike is called Dasha, there's a huge high def set of the pictures that were posted plus a pretty damn sexy video floating around. I'm sure anyone competent enough to use /r/ will be able to acquire it if needs be. ..thought i'd say :3
Harry Potter: twilight for gay guys.
In all of those damn movies there's a bird flying in the distance at the end. What the fuck.
That was Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix. It'll seem random and won't make sense if you haven't read the book (it sings in the book).
OMG i loved it OMG [editline]05:48PM[/editline]
Harry Potter: twilight for gay guys.
you idiot. more like harry potter: twilight for everyone ever except not as god-awful as twilight and it appeals to literally everyone [editline]05:49PM[/editline]
They didn't show Dobby dying in the movie, did they? How much screen time did Hagrid get? He is my favourite character, and they seem to give him less screen time for each movie.
How much screen time did Hagrid get? He is my favourite character, and they seem to give him less screen time for each movie.
hardly any, but hes hardly in the book at all anyway
They forgot the funeral which was ridiculous because it's absolutely crucial to the series
They forgot the funeral which was ridiculous because it's absolutely crucial to the series
how so whether they bury him or not, he still died
Well, the 7th movie is made into two parts, and I guess each part is going to have a 2 hour(+,-) running time or so, and by that they might stay closer to the book. I'm going to get pissed if they shorten down the battle and the end.
[sp]Actually, he wanted snape to kill him so that voldemort wouldn't get the elder wand, although I need to reread the book to check.[/sp]
[sp]actually he wanted him to kill him to protect draco from voldemort and snape from dying from breaking the unbreakable vow[/sp]
Movies > Books
Thats like trying to compare a number to a boolean in Lua. It will eat you. The books aren't better or worse than the movies, they're just different. You can't go in to the movies expecting them to be as detailed as the books, they're fucking movies. Totally different animals, both good in their own regard.
Imo, too much romance, not enough action, no real climax, no happy ending like the other movies (eg. Harry defeats x person) It seemed more like a filler for the next movie
Imo, too much romance, not enough action, no real climax, no happy ending like the other movies (eg. I dig Luna's accent. It's so cute.
Imo, too much romance, not enough action, no real climax, no happy ending like the other movies (eg. Its not supposed to be a "complete" story on its own and they're saving the REAL climax for the next two movies.
I fell asleep halfway through :downs:
I fell asleep halfway through :downs:
Have some boxes to sleep in.
Have some boxes to sleep in.
I can't stay awake in a movie theatre for 3 hours.
I could've sworn the zombie scene with Harry and Albus was longer than that. Also, a giant fire rape?
I Saw this on friday, it was seriously awesome!
Saw it friday. The awesome thing was the cinema was relatively empty. Not because Germans don't like Harry Potter, but because this wasn't a regular cinema. It's a cinema that shows the movies in their original version (aka in english) and most germans just go to regular cinemas to watch the shit dubbed german versions (which I despise). all in all a great expirence, but I can't help think that this was , just another HP episode, nothing else, not really special best quote from the movie: Harry Potter: But, Sir, I though we weren't allowed to apparate on Hogwarts grounds. Albus Dumbledore: Well, being me... has its privileges I :h: the word "snogging", so damn british, I love it... :D
