It's amazing how the Harry Potter movies/books have transformed from a cheerful kids film into a dramatic and dark one.
Its the director change. The current one came in after the second one and made it full of badassery.
[sp]Dumbledore actually asked Snape to kill him as he was dying already from the curse placed upon the ring of Slytherin which is actually the Stone of Ressurection (one of the 3 deathly hallows) and because Snape failed to protect Lily Potter who he loved for almost all his life he vowed he would do anything to make up for it.[/sp]
I thought the ring was actually an SoJ meaning Dumbledore just got enough for a Windforce.
Why not pull some Wanted shit and snipe Voldemort from across a hole fucking city. If Thomas Kretschmann and James McAvoy can do it, Harry Pothead can do it.

He'd just cast some charm on the bullet as it approached to turn it into a duck or something.
I just saw it, and maybe I'm biased from the books (even though I honestly can barely remember them), but it seemed like this movie was very, very bare. Like, there was just nothing to the plot, all it was was [sp]Draco's attempts to murder dumbledore and the relationships between hermione and ron and harry and ginny.[/sp] I think the problem is that they approached the movie as "How can we tell the book in 2 hours" not "How can we adapt the book into a feature length movie". It was like cliff notes in the movie form.
That's pretty much how the book went :buddy:
Yeah the book totally didn't spend a while having Dumbledore teaching Harry and spending time with him did it?
Though they are making a movie, not a video version of a novel
That's pretty much how the book went :buddy:
Yeah, but there was no detail, nothing to draw you in, to bring it alive. The movie only had any details about classes and such when the plot absolutely needed them. It's supposed to be about their adventures at hogwarts over an entire year, not just the cut and dry main story arc. [editline]07:49PM[/editline]
Though they are making a movie, not a video version of a novel
That's actually my point, all they did was take the book and mindlessly remove all the details that gave it it's atmosphere so that they could fit it into 2 hours, and then filmed it. They didn't remake it, they just recut it.
652 pages 2 1/2 hours. What were you expecting here
So you are saying that movies are just doomed to be terrible? Lot's of movies are great, and it's because the people who made them have learned from those before them, and refined the artstyle of a motion picture. Same goes for books. The problem is that they didn't make this movie as a movie, they made it as a horrendously slimmed down book. The result is something that wouldn't work as a book, and it didn't really work as a movie either, or at least that good of one. There's tons of movies that have intricate, detailed storylines, "652 pages, 2 1/2 hours" isn't an excuse to make something that has no life to it at all.
Just got back from it, that was REALLY good. Better than my expectations. The ending however....they changed the Harry freezing-under-the-cloak thing and no funeral....and they could've added a little 8-10 mins more about Dumbledore and the stuff....that part stretched on a LONG time in the book I remember. And lol, people who watch only the movies will feel that it went too fast. They don't explain Horcruxes/soul-splitting in detail and a lot of stuff about the past is left out too. By the end of the book, I remember being able to guess all seven Horcruxes....I don't think the HP moviegoers (who haven't read the books) will be able to. Nevertheless, great book-to-film adaptation. Sort of accurate. There's really no plot progression until the second half, but thats the way its supposed to be. This is just there to set you up for Deathly Hallows. But TOO much teen romance, imo. I have to admit, it is darker and slightly more comical than the previous ones. I really liked it. Five stars!

If you are going to be all like the book was better, shut up. It's only better because all the things you imagine in your head are way better then anything that could be done on the silver screen apparently

And if you think I'm biased, I can honestly say that I can't even tell you what it was missing, because I literally don't remember the book. This one just seemed like a movie I'll see and forget about easily. Harry Potter has just gotten worse. The first was really fun, the second was good but not as good, the third was kinda cool cause it was getting darker, the fourth didn't seem like Harry Potter, the fifth sucked, and this one was unremarkable. It didn't get anywhere except for one part.
I never read the book, so I remember it less then you, sure I read all the books leading up to it. I tried starting into the book, but it was just boring, with the character interactions being lackluster,

It wasn't that set, that doesn't look like her.
Make up makes people look different. Look at Lady GaGa Or Amy Winehouse. Although no makeup could hide her horseface, just her drug addiction.
I think? It wasn't that set, that doesn't look like her.
Pretty sure it's legit, but maybe it's not the same thing you are thinking about. Rest of the shoot:
Good movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, it's barely like the book. And although I'm disappointed it wasn't more like the book, it was still good. They need a better screenwriter, IMO. Also, editing/composting was terrible. I think that the movies should be more true to the books, and be much longer. Like the Lord of the Rings movies. They should have made them 3+ hours starting with Goblet of Fire.

I may have it saved somewhere but can't check at this time.

I'm kind of predicting that theres going to be a massive hike in depression after the last movie comes out, Harry Potter for the most part has been a HUGE part of millions of peoples lifes, with it finally ending some people aren't gonna be able to accept it. Just a random thought.
Well there are two more movies so it'll be for a while.
Woah is that even legal
What's the point in a stripped thong? You might as well free ball. Or free bush in her case. And I think she's 18 so I guess?
Well there are two more movies so it'll be for a while.
That kind of makes it a ticking timebomb, if you think about it. One movie gets released, people start to feel it ending and start to get panicky, after it finally does end some ~8 months later it will probably have been built up so much some people will burst. [editline]08:09PM[/editline]
What's the point in a stripped thong? You might as well free ball. Or free bush in her case. And I think she's 18 so I guess? [editline]10:37PM[/editline] Oh god, just imagine when the last Twilight movie comes out.
Perhaps there will be a mass suicide of twlight fans, then again twilight hasn't been around for 10/11 years and isn't a big part of a very diverse group of people, it's pretty much pre/teen age girls.
Not having low standards for women classifies as stupidity now?
No, but then, that's not really the point I was making at all. I saw the film today, and I'll admit, it was much better than I thought it would be! But as others have said, They could have spiced up the ending a little. Apprently, the last 10-20 minutes were so bleak is because they wanted to avoid repetition concerning the amount of battles that take place in the next 2. (Book 7 is going to be split into to films if I've confuzzled anyone)
