No I said I understand it, but roflmao aren't you quite the fucking gun-nut if you have a 50 caliber sniper rifle in your garage. I don't give a fuck about people who have guns as their hobby, it's all fine by me. It's just that guns are quite destructive in nature, which is why it takes a certain level of crazy to like them as hobby, crazy-good or however you wanna view it. And no you are not crazy per se jesus why you have to be so defensive and take everything so literal. You are what makes the gun-people look bad in my eyes at least. Also pls shove that honest-adorable cutesy-ass bullshit of yours elsewhere, you don't talk to people like that.
Are you being serious or are you high? When you call me a crazy gun nut, I take that as an insult. You say that owning a firearm doesn't make you crazy, but you call me crazy for defending owning a .50BMG rifle. So again, are you being serious or are you high? I'll again point to the fact that firearms are not inherently evil and owning one that looks scary does not make that firearm evil/crazy nor does it make the person owning it evil/crazy. [editline]1st February 2013[/editline]
but I'm just gonna leave this thread now.
Probably best you do because you clearly have no understanding of what you're talking about.
Before I was into firearms, I did consider private sales pretty suspicious. Trunk does have a point, they definitely do try and set an atmosphere. Earlier this month I went to a gun show and bought a rifle. It was a private sale, the man operating the booth did ask for my I.D, and did do the math to see if I was of proper age. A friend of mine also recently purchased a firearm through a private sale. It was during the day, and he met with the seller in a Lowell's parking lot. I'd like to believe the majority of (private)sellers are a little more smart than the guy selling the Sigsauer in the video. Responsible gun owners know what they're doing, and part of this video demonstrates that.
Well when you think about it, when people sell stuff that they can't send in the mail, it's done in the same ways. Parkinglot, Seller or Buyer's home. I sold my shotgun to a guy, sale took place in my home. You could buy a dozen muffins from a chef. If the sale takes place in a parking lot at night it's just as sketchy. I don't think the item being sold makes any difference to that, really
You're adorable. Don't bash something because you don't understand it. EDIT: Your country outright banned many firearms because a mentally unstable person got a hold of a gun. Instead of making sure the people who don't need to get a hold of firearms don't, your government had a silly knee jerk reaction and implemented some of the silliest gun laws in effect. True your crime have dropped, but your gun laws are coincidental, not consequential. They were already dropping before your silly laws went into effect, and they continued to drop while your ban has been in effect.
Adorable, cheers I do try to take care of my looks. I don't really care about the masses' opinion to be honest, what is popular and acceptable to the majority doesn't mean it's necessarily right. You guys used to go around in parties lynching black people as scape goats for your rape victims, that and the whole era of black slavery was considered a-okay by the majority back in the day. What relieved me with the shootings on my street was that the weapon involved was a dodgey home crafted weapon that only shot once and jammed because of the quality of craftsmanship. If we had a large supply of Legal guns here, so many would eventually make their way into the wrong hands here because there's no real way of controlling that unless not having them AT ALL. Yes what I said above that statement means people with a bit of skill can make their own but they never match industrial quality stuff made by the likes of HK. Most of the time Australia gangs have their guns seized by police, they are always shitty farming shotguns and handguns that have been drifting around since the 70's. There's been a few occasions where some serious firepower has slipped the border like this automatic sub machine gun (with it's British origins no doubt came from IRA connections in Ireland). The only reason I can see your government taking your "right to bare arms" is because of the increase in civil revolutions lately, particularly in the arab world. Taking away your weapons relieves the fear of any uprisings, you live in the big brother world after all. If they really were "thinking of the children" they would have sorted this shit out after that Columbine school shooting. (Yes I know guns don't kill people, people do but with western society being so fucked in the head and our culture being up the shit, do you really trust those around you with guns?)
Personal transport is arguably much more important in modern american society than personal firearm ownership, yet the people who go crazy over any mention of gun control have no problem with using a car requiring multiple tests, a licence, and near constant survelliance to make sure you're using your vehicle responsibly and you're fit to drive it I find that odd

A car is designed and intended for personal transport. A hammer is designed and intended for construction. A gun is designed and intended for only one thing.

Being a Canadian gun enthusiast, I don't mind taking a test and being issued a license. However, I do mind all the ridiculous unnecessary restrictions that we have. You go through a somewhat standard written and practical exam, then you have to fill out a forum to send to the government. The forum needs 2 people to be a reference, then a spouse/girlfriend, then ex-spouse/ex-girlfriend and a witness to sign it. Once the government gets the forum, they call you and ask you dumb questions, (ie: Have you ever thought about killing your family with a firearm?) then they call all of the people that signed the forum. They also go through your medical and criminal history. All of that to have a 5 round magazine capacity, a massive list of banned guns, and a ridiculously strict handgun transport and usage laws. Our laws are fucked.
Nobody needs guns people need cars theres the difference. I don't get this whole gun thing, why do you guys need guns, someone please enlighten me, is it to shoot cans off a fence or something?

If almost everyone has a gun, a country would be insane to attempt a land attack on America since all of us will answer the call to arms. This is why we all need guns. Also I don't know about everyone needs cars, those Amish folk get along just fine with a horse and carriage.

Secondly, they weren't the opinions of the majority, thats probably why slavery and jim-crow laws were abolished. That was a simple submachine gun built in a garage somewhere in ausieland. Not all home built firearms are garbage, and not all of them are masterpieces either. Now, I know this is hard to believe, but firearms are still legal in your country, and they were less restricted a few decades ago. I don't have the statistics on me at the moment, but your country actually has a few million unacounted firearms since the registry started up (If download is browsing this thread, I think he might have a link to those statistics). How many of these legal firearms have been used in crimes? Regardless if you like it or not, people will try and kill each other in your country. Whether they use a homemade hand cannon, a chainsaw and a katana. If they really were "thinking of the children" they would have sorted this shit out after that Columbine school shooting.
Funny you mention the columbine shooting. It actually occurred during the first assault weapons ban! And whataya know, outright bans and restrictions did nothing to stop the shooting. Outright bans on firearms don't stop violence either. In China, on the same day of the Sandy shooting, a Chinese man walked into a school and stabbed 20 or so children. Further proving my point, if someone wants someone dead or wants to cause a tragedy, they will do so regardless if they have a firearm or not.
