The Class system, considering how things work today, is rather outdated.
In a classical sense, there was only the Upper Class and Lower class, with the Upper Class being the likes of wealthy landowners and nobility, while the lower classes were the "common" folk, who more often than not were left with serving the upper class.
The middle class were those that seeked to rise up from the lower class, and were craftsmen and landowners that sought to rise up to the higher echelons of society. Material wealth didn't only determine what social class you found yourself in, but so did mannerisms, education, and breeding.
