Also brings me to another thing I dislike about recent horror movies (including this prequel) - characters' reactions. Female characters ALWAYS have that annoying, unrealistic "stop moving and look behind you very slowly while shuddering" that is just plain stupid, people never react the way a normal human being would and most of the horror scenes are pushed in unnecessarily. In the scene above alone, everyone just stands back and look at what happens while, at this point, the existence of the alien is already known of everyone still living, yet they all react like it was the very first time they saw it. In the original movie, it takes the characters around two scenes to know what they're dealing with and find some good tactics to fight it off and even how to detect it.
I will never forgive the makers of the Thing 2011 for thinking it was a good idea to use CGI.
... or did they decide to scrap all of this hard work to use "CGI"?

This is amazing stuff, the film would have easily been so much better with these effects. I wanted so badly for this prequel to be good and it could have been. The director clearly cared about the integrity of this film. Fuck the businessmen who thought it was a good idea to scrap all this work and use cgi.

Nowadays the cast of a horror flick is usually the group of jerk college kids who wander into a haunted forest or something. Older movies had more varied characters, who reacted a lot more realistically to what was happening. Movies like Alien or The Thing.

If you don't remember it's the black screen that starts burning to reveal the movie's title. It had to be done with practical effects from A to Z and that's pretty awesome. I used to be scared as a motherfucker at films when I was a kid, but all of these just make me interested in watching the movies.
There was this one animated movie that terrified me as a kid, but I have no idea what its called now. Does anyone have any idea what movie this is? I would appreciate it a lot, this has haunted me for a while. It had these two kids, a boy and a girl, and they were on some boat in the ocean and they had a friend who was a pelican and it sang some song about fish or something. At the climax of the movie, the get stuck in some storm and the water turns into the form of a giant woman. I was freaked out but I watched it all the time on VHS, anyone know what this is? I'm sorry this is vague as shit, but I was like 5 when I saw it.
Was going to post Event Horizon but its already posted :v:

Cut the words into a fabric, cover the back of it with a layer of trashbag material, and burn the trashbag material.
I've only seen the movie once during school in 4th-5th grade, and my teacher skipped this part because she said it was "too scary" for us, and we all complained but didn't see it. Now that I've actually seen it for the first time, I'm actually surprised how insanely disturbing that scene actually is, it doesn't fit the film at all and doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
Guess what? The reactions of EVERYBODY in that scene besides Wonka was totally real. It was method acting.

Only movie I've been legitimately scared of was Event Horizon, although I was 7 or 8 when I saw it..
Jesus christ, this makes me feel sick watching it.
The book is pretty good. I still find it fucking creepy.
