I recall hearing that he copyrighted NOTLD under a different name, so when he went to release it his movie wasn't copyrighted at all and everyone made and distributed unofficial copies of it.
He still made a decent profit though. The budget was very minimal.
That and his movie is archived in the Library of Congress as a culturally influential film.
Here's the whole movie:

Can't we start this next friday or saturday? Sunday isn't exactly a prime day.

ah so its a slightly different case then.
yeah was a massive profit well according to wikipedia:
George Romero completed the film on a USD$114,000 budget, and after a decade of cinematic re-releases, it grossed some $12 million domestically and $30 million internationally.
Well he made a difference with it as well.

I read that too but that might be how much the movie itself made, including the unofficial copies.
If anyone is planning on streaming a zombie film, please DO NOT USE LIVESTREAM OR ANY FLASH-BASED STREAM SITE! They fail.
A streaming media program (as in a program that streams the media over the Internet so others can play it using a media player, not a Flash-based website) and perhaps an IRC channel for chatting would be better. Even VLC has an option to do network and Internet streaming.
Posting in the "Thead"
I demand you add Diary of The Dead to movies list.

We should stream movies after the superbowl.
Or right now.
I tried fucking VLC streaming. I can't get it to work. If anyone would teach me how, though...
Only movies I have right now that are zombie related are 28 days/weeks.
And another but I can't say.
Use Justin.tv or something.
Tried it. Keeps hopping on Manycam's dick. Can't get rid of it. Can't make it select VLC.
Where the fuck is Shaun of the Dead?
Watching the super bowl
*launches L4D2*
"I HOPE MINES A FOOTBALL"

On the list, if you look.

Alright. If you can teach me how I can stream a movie related to Zombies in a land.
Zombieland?
Day of the Dead, man.
That's my favorite zombie movie, and I will not change my opinion on it.
Is that one any good?
I heard about it when it was released, but I don't know anyone who's read it.
It's a little slow but good, I might think it's slow because I read "Next" right before :P
I have a stream up, though I have no idea if my Internet connection is decent enough to support streaming a movie to a bunch of people over the Internet.

According to VLC, it's streaming the file as-is at 500kbps, though I'd assume I could transcode the video to cut the bitrate down.
Well, lets see it then. Or teach me how. If you can.
ZOMBIELAND.
That is all.
On a Sunday? :colbert:
I vote for Friday....

It works!
It works!
Only question now is: How many people can be connected before it uses up all my upstream bandwidth.
No idea. Any chance we can get a IRC chat up somehow?

By the way, are we doing this now? I've paused the stream since I'm not sure when we're doing this (only three people are connected).
