Wouldn't you be pissed if your workplace just stopped paying you for a few days up to a few weeks or, even worse, paid your money to some other guy?
But like gokiyono said, it's something that come with beign Youtuber. You are giving entertaining and depend on people watching you so if you do something people don't like, you don't get money. Making a live out of YouTube is not a good idea unless you can grow really fast, considering how the market is today, if you start a new channel your chances of getting big and known are really low.
With something as volatile as Youtube and living off advert money, you NEED a plan B, even if Google/Youtube didn't have a tendency of acting like a freight container loaded with dicks.

But making videos on Youtube seems to have some of the worst job security in the world, it seems like indie developers are better off than Content-Creators on Youtube. I don't really get why it's so unpopular to suggest that doing it full time doesn't seem like a good idea. I mean, there are plenty of people that does it past time. GradeA whose a teacher, critical who's a pilot (I think), thunderfoot who's a scientist, singingbanana who's a mathmatician and speaker and the list goes on.
Scott Manley, one of my favourite youtubers, had his stream key leaked... Now he has lost the ability to livestream. WHAT THE FUCK!

Once he contacts google and explains the situation they'll more than likely fix it and remove the limits.
Calm down... It's an automatic process. Youtube can be pretty shit but I feel like people really don't appreciate how hard it is to host a site like it with organizations like the MPAA shitting down your throat all the time. Not to mention the costs, around 08' their was a pretty good alternative to youtube called stage6 which did everything better than youtube in every possible way at the time but quickly died out because of how unsustainable it was. Unless your a mega corporation that enjoys constant harassment from copyright holders and love pouring money down the drain their will never be a youtube alternative that's good.

That group didn't agree with the content (heavily anti-religious). I appealed and lost. That was it. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't get money from ads on my videos because of that one incident on my account.
There are years worth of videos talking about how terrible Youtube has become, betweeen Content ID's, Google+, and general redisigns. You could probably do a 45-minute video showing Youtubes inevitable transition from pretty good to atrocious.
BrainScratch Commentaries, a gaming commentary group on youtube (and one of my favorite gaming channels) was hit by some trouble fairly recently: Basically one of there videos from 2013 (specifically the third part of their old Catherine playthrough) was hit by a manual copyright strike (that's right, MANUAL, not automatic), which was made in the name of an actress with no connection to Catherine or Atlus (that can be found anyway) and claims that the video infringes on a 27-minute short film barely anyone has ever heard of (and that CERTAINLY has no connection to Catherine or Atlus). The good news is that they received a response from the party who made the copyright claim, who have clarified that this claim was a mistake and that they intended to place a claim on a different video by a different channel which used footage from that particular film, and then they requested that our video be reinstated and the strike retracted. The bad news though is that although the claim WAS indeed later retracted, the copyright strike hasn't, which means that until Youtube does their job and removes it soon, they not only can not upload longer videos, but also can't "schedule" them, upload them as private/unlisted, or anything of that sort, until the strike is automatically removed on July 15th.

All we need is a few different websites to post videos on without fear of being shut down and YouTube will no longer have as many people watching videos there regularly. Each site could have a particular specialization by subgenre like original series, media critique, gorillagong/realmachinima, best of "x" etc. This could work in theory, so long as each site is independent and publicly funded a la patreon. Switzerland or Sweden or even Belgium or Germany could work. I think those are rather responsible nations.

Youtube has been a corrupt money grab at the whims of corporations since Google bought them. You'd think being acquired by one of the biggest, most popular companies on earth would give you some protection but nope. I knew youtube was fucked up ever since one of my favorite oldschool youtubers made this video
Unfortunately this has been going on for a very long time, and it needs to stop. The automated copyright system is not even a functional system. It's automated. Even simply reporting a video could cause a lot of damage. Even if that video is completely harmless and follows the rules.
when you really think about it youtubes authentically NON-EXISTENT support makes steams support far better I'd rather deal with waiting almost a week for each reply, than never getting a fix unless I literally wave my arms and yell "FUCKING HELP" to my subs thankfully I don't have subs or videos, and don't have to deal with this piss
Youtube monetize my videos for themselves while locking me out. for me; for them; so basically my videos get ads, but all revenue goes to someone else and i don't get a cut. Even though majority of the content is my own. I could begin again but that would be 21k subscribers down the drain.
Can't you claim it fair use in any way?
Can't you claim it fair use in any way?
Unfortunately fair use pretty much means nothing on YouTube at this point. It is unfortunate that nothing will be done about this, and as much as we all want a new competitor, that is never going to go well either... :frown:
youtubes shittiness has created ways for content creators to get their deserved money otherwise, such as patreon. Which seems kinda retarded

So BrainScratch Commentaries (the group whose video I posted above) just posted an update video regarding their situation, and lets just say, they're pretty much fed up with YouTube's bullshit: Edited: Well, that was quick (4 hours later):

I'm honestly getting the impression you'd have to treat every single shit with Youtube as the reincarnation of Mao, Hitler and Stalin Combined, otherwise the staff doesn't do jackshit.
Looks like the Pokemon Company did a manual takedown on Pokemon Reorchestrated's channel several covers of Kanto music: He has the music properly licensed and he doesn't know why he had the takedowns.
