Depends on the game and the commentator really. In this case the game benefits from not having commentary and yet we have an insufferable dingus providing vomit inducing commentary.
If it was someone like say ResearchIndicates doing commentary I have no doubt he'd know when to shut his mouth.
I for one thought it wasn't that terrible actually. His other videos are ten times more annoying then this, i already got Amnesia on pre-order but yeah after asking my friend he said its only the intro and i could not wait to see more of the game.
Also the time he got 'scared', ran to the flowers and put off his headset and walked away was staged as fuck.

Why would you watch gameplay of a horror game, once you see the scare in a video then it won't have any effect when you actually play the game because you know its coming.

I watched 4 entire Amnesia LP's from various people, and then I finally played it for myself and it was a completely different experience.
Not all games are the same when watched.

generally you watch lets plays to see how the person playing reacts to the game. that's why game grumps and shit are popular.

It makes me sad that some guy can overreact to Amnesia and get a free pass to play MFP early while I'm saving up for this game in spite of the fact I'm having a few financial issues that will slow me down.

Frictional games is the publisher. To them, units are important. Why not give a free copy to the biggest name in gaming basically on youtube. Have him do some videos and they'll get tit loads of publicity.
But chinese room apparently cares more for the community itself than Friction did it seems.
I'm amazed they weren't onboard with this though.

After looking at his current video quality, I still see those (rly funni unironic xd) reaction montages and overreaction videos, but at least I see a bit of humanity in his videos and his actions as of late.
