It's not just that it has to be absorbed in fat, but it also has to be decarboxylated first through heating. This is a common problem among stoners making edibles. They often don't know about decarboxylation and just mix the weed in melted butter and think that it's done. As a result they waste 1-2g+ on edibles that would get you as high with 0.3-0.5g if it had been properly cooked.

I always make sure it's done correctly, .25 gram gets me blazed normally.
Had a funny experience once though, first time me and a mate made weed brownies.
We grinded the hash and readied up the dough, and I went to the attic to get something. When I came back, my mate had dumped the entirety of the weed in the dough.
I looked at him.
He looked at me.
"Dude, where did the weed go."
"I put it in the dough man, like you're supposed to."
"Uh, you have to heat it up in butter first."
"Shit."
So we thought, fuck it, and baked the cake.
I gave a few pieces to a couple of friends to a festival later that day. It was extracted fairly decently because it had gotten 45 minutes in the oven, but since it wasn't really spread out, there was no way of knowing what dose you got. Long story short, I ended up staring at the side of a tent for 2-3 hours.
Oh, and I was able to see the roof of my mouth, like x-ray vision.
