Yeah I agree with you, they're definitely overpriced. But can't really argue for free. I've never worn them out the house though :P
Beats are overpriced, but they're designed for modern music, so anything else usually sounds like shit through them apart from simple kick and snare with autotuned vocals
but you could get something better for cheaper
