(read the whole thing its interesting) in 06 a study was conducted to test the hypothesis that marijuana caused lung cancer, however the result was null, in fact smoking marijuana along with tobacco helps lower chances of developing lung cancer compared to a tobacco only smoker, and smoking exclusively marijuana doesnt show any decline in lung function (study states how the amount of decline in lung function was similar to non-smokers).

I think the 4th and 5th books are for character development and sort of the build-up of the next awesome climaxes. Personally I enjoyed them, felt that they maybe were a bit too descriptive and long at some points but were still entertaining and interesting. Like I was saying earlier though, I think the 4th and 5th are more like the 1st and 2nd, sort of building up for the next book.
I do hope GRRM starts the next chain of awesome events in book 6 at least, but I feel its realling going to pick up as book 5 was pretty exciting in the second half.

Well, one of my houses is near Groningen so that's where I go to coffeeshops there. Law regarding coffeeshops is essentially the same all over Holland, save maybe the provinces/cities on the borders of Holland where they would enforce more strictly to prevent people coming in from Belgium/Germany/Luxembourg to buy bud and leave.
Also as Parja said it's not legal, it's decriminalized and widely tolerated as it's never proved to INCREASE any crime, really. The police WILL however stop you if they see you smoking a joint in public (within reason, if you're smoking out of the way it shouldn't be a problem) where you could be considered to be infringing upon other people's quiet enjoyment of the area (blablabla legal crap). They will most likely just ask you to move to a quieter area or put your joint out and go somewhere else, only in extreme circumstances will you actually get in trouble with the police for smoking.
Funny little excerpt from a trip I made to Amsterdam at the start of 2012. I smoked a couple of joints with a couple of police officers who had just come off duty, they were pretty chilled out.

Girlfriend took off work today and me, her, and a buddy of mine went off and enjoyed the nice warm weather for the first time today.
