why are only new modest mouse songs posted in the OP, with the exception of dukes up and dramamine? good news and we were dead are by far their worst albums aside from sad sappy sucker. old modest mouse trumps new modest mouse with ease. I feel entirely comfortable saying this because MM is my favorite band and M&A has been my favorite album since I was 12, and it was the first album I ever purchased.
Their compilation of singles and rarities, Building Nothing Out Of Something, is quickly becoming my favourite of theirs. Especially because of Broke. One of their best songs.
BSON is an incredible compilation album. I rank their main works as:
M&A > LCW > TIALD > BSON > Interstate 8 EP > Good News > SSS > We Were Dead
post-2003 modest mouse isn't good at all compared to their canonical albums and EPs
I dunno man, I fuckin love We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
I don't have all of their albums, but I love Modest Mouse.
My favorite song is "Black Cadillacs"
I like this thread, I love Modest Mouse, but this thread has two things that bother me personally:
1. Modest Mouse, new or old, is fucking awesome. I have listened to them since 2000, and their sound is still good to me, so I just don't care about which is better.
2. Some of may favorite songs haven't been posted, which I think are some of the best produced.
"The Fruit that Ate Itself"

"Night on the Sun"

"Edit the Sad Parts"

"Custom Concern"

"Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset"

These are some of their best

Also, I like this demo version of Float On better than the produced one, it felt more raw and reminded me of the earlier days of Modest Mouse.
I really enjoy this type of music. Thanks for sharing, I have never heard of them until now.

While your annoyances include what I stated, you posted some of my favorite songs of theirs. I also agree about the demo version of Float On being better because of that raw sound...I find that none of MM's new stuff has that raw sound that their old songs used to. It was that emotional force that made their work so compelling in the first place, when Isaac started sounding sweet and their works became too well-produced I think they went downhill
