solar maximum, not bullshit. The last solar maximum messed with our shit, just not too terribly. We also had much less compact electronics back then. I'm seriously afraid that we might have fucked ourselves by making all of our electronics so compact.
Man I wanna see the expression on the faces of those who believe this shit when it's 2012. Priceless.
I totally agree. The moment the clock strikes 12:01 am 22 Dec 2012 I'l stand on a high place and shout
"The world is still here bitchez!!"
I don't think so.
But the repercussions will be massive, and I'm more scared of that.
A woman drank bleach and died because she thought the Large Hadron Collider was going to cause a black hole. Sucking everything in this solar system into it.
She was only 19
Another pointless waste of life for some trumped up theory.
It happens every 11 years, like the video said. Additionally, there's various signs and clues that's more or less showing that it's building up more energy than usual and it's going to fucksplode this time. Whatever half of the world is facing the earth at that point is in trouble. I'm pretty sure even NASA has come out and said that this is true and there's a very good chance of it happening.
Pretty much the only defense against this sort of thing would be EMP shields, and unfortunately almost nothing is actually protected. Not only that, but the smaller/more compact our electronics get, the more sensitive they are to EMPs.
I wouldn't be surprised if the sun ended up killing off a bunch of shit solely because of how small we've gotten stuff, regardless of whether or not it's a very strong solar maximum.
Hypothetically speaking, lets say lethaldrive shits its pants in the blast.

the servers and whatnot. :v:

i'm fucked lole
With the way the world is now, it wouldn't suprise me if a natural disaster somehow fucked up Earth beyond repair.
The Mayans didn't predict shit about the world ending, their calender just runs out. What does one do when their calender runs out? Get a new one, of course. The Mayans just died off before they could update theirs.
Quite frankly, even if they did make a prediction about the end of the world, what worth does it have when they couldn't even predict the end of their own civilization?
What luck, one of the people in my class were wondering if the Mayans forgot to finish their calender before they all got wiped out.
Anyways, no, not unless some freak accident or some shit happens.

you're talking about the generally by-century mass CME event
NASA's already set plans to set up an early detection system which would be able to show data of an imminent mass CME event and would basically give us the chance to shut off the entire US electrical grid before a CME EMP hits, which could salvage a lot of shit. google "nasa solar sheild" if you're interested.
Wait. So the mayans calendar eneed, they predicted a new age.
New Age=Year
So where the hell did everyone get the end of the world from? If the mayans had found that out don't you think they would have, you know, written it down?
It's going to be an apocalypse of the mind.
Some people believe that in 2012, it won't be the end of the world, just a dramatic shift of the poles. Meaning heavy natural disaster, but not the end of the world. The poles are always shifting as well, just every so slightly. 2012 will apparently just bring a jump in the shift. If this is true, then the people who are at the most risk are ones living at sea level, or below. Considering I live in Canada, and about 1km above sea level in my area, I feel pretty safe.
I'm scared that some people are going to take 2012 being end of the world seriously and they'll do stuff a normal man would (probably) do if there was no next day
everything including rape and murder and theft

That's definitely a possibility, but if the police were smart, they might keep their eyes open instead of pepper spraying Occupy protesters around this time.
No, it won't according to me, but hell It would make for a pretty interesting time to live in.
I think it will. Conflict arising in the middle east, Europe, This "recession" being more like a depression, It's all the same things that happened with WW2. The political instability and the rise of corporations, It's seriously concerning.
My entirety is telling me There'll be another war soon, Conventional war, Why else would we put up missile shields and invade countries for resources?
Just think of this, We have put up a few missile shields in the space of 4-8 years. Hawaii and others. I believe if the occupy movement overthrows the government we may have a shot at surviving, But it's unlikely. they need a REAL leader.

None of the events that are happening in present day have any relation whatsoever to some calender that some people created a long time ago. The calender ends on that date because they just wanted the calender to be very long, so that they wouldn't have to create a new one every once in a while.
Quit believing what the media and some random bigot tells you, and use your damn head.

I don't listen to any media. And i'm using my damn head. IT'S RIGHT THERE. The instability, The Recession, It's all sitting right there.

I can see where he's going with it, and while I don't believe the Mayans predictions, I do feel as though something terrible is about to happen with all these protests flaring up across the middle east, and now America, the poor economy, the broken to shit job market, and instability and incompetency in our own government, and more. Something just feels wrong here.
Don't forget about the solar maximum.
http://youtu.be/zjF8fk6hjZE?t=32s
One of the largest solar maximums in the history of mankind is supposed to go off right around that time. It has the potential to shut down and possibly even permanently fry every electronic device on the planet. Keep in mind, the dude talking in this video is an extremely well known physicist, not some crackpot saying the world's gonna end.
Essentially, the sun is going to go 'lol EMP' and Fight Club comes true.
Apparently this is going to be lower than usual. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8g6llLf6Yw&feature=related

I mean, in a literal sense, there is no correlation between them, in any way, at all.
Anybody that really wants some kind of proof from a scientist, just watch the video in the above link. It really shouldn't have been needed, but people seem to believe anything.
Either way I'm going to have nonstop sex that day just to be sure and eat nothing but cake and chocolate

Personally, shit will go down 2012, this is a fact. But why? Because, a pastor says the world will end on X date, gets noticed, people panic, it was because of just one guys prediction too... with the paranoia of 2012 going on, just imagine the panic that'll happen because of that paranoia. Shit will happen, a week later people will feel stupid and ignorant when nothing happens.
Obviously people have a hard time grasping the fact that the world and the people will still be here in the year 12,012.
The climate might be a little warmer by then.

Kind of my feelings towards it all as well. I don't believe an apocalyptic event of any fashion is going to occur, but people are still going to go apeshit simply because of the paranoia and whatnot. You can sort of relate it to Y2K, when all that nonsense was going on and we thought that January 1st, 2000 would spell the end of the world because of some global meltdown of electronics or some shit.
I personally don't think so. How many times have people foretold the "end of the world"? Many times for example, this summer, and Y2k, and although Y2k wasn't necessarily an end of the world prediction, it was going to be a supposedly catastrophic event where technology failed us. 2012 is just the end of the Mayan calendar, and even if it was "the end", if it was just the earth that's not a big deal considering there are millions of other planets and we are just one small planet on the huge spectrum. We as a race are insignificant to other things other than destroying the earth.
My calendar ends on December 2011.
IT MUST BE A SIGN
I really fucking hope not, I'd be chapped. I've barely experienced enough of life for it to all come burning down so soon
