I just got it two days ago too, really awesome, I love how you can scroll through tabs with your mouse wheel. StumbleUpon rocks, I've spent hours and have three pages of favorites already :v:. Yeah I'm looking for more essential add-ons myself, only have StumbleUpon so far.
Firefox is fun with themes and add-ons. Get a new browser theme, and noscript. Noscript really makes your computer safer by stopping scripts from running.
I personally don't like themes. I do like the addons, however. I can no longer stand browsing without Noscript and Adblock Plus, or even unimportant things like Download Statusbar and Stumbleupon.
I still use IE7. I have Firefox installed on the same computer however. IE7 works just fine for me, I like the way it downloads files much better, and other misc user-related stuff. Firefox is probably better in some cases (it kicks the pants off IE6, so I use Firefox at our school), but I just don't feel a need to switch over. I use firefox at home when some web page ends up not working right or when my main account for Facepunch gets temporarily banned. Also, for some reason Firefox for me loads pages slower and they load images spaces 1 at a time right when the image starts to download, so I have to wait 4-5 seconds till all the images load before I can even bother to start reading (IE7 for me loads the image spaces first and then downloads the images so the page doesn't jump around while you are reading it).
You use windows to make partitions for Linux.
No I don't. I use the GPartEd liveCD. I didn't know Windows could make ext2 / ext3 partitions.
Hey all i just wanted to let you know after being frustrated with internet explorer i finally grew some balls, tried something new, and switched to Firefox! Any tips you might have since i am new with this Firefox thing? And what is the big difference (Don't yell at me i know its better that Internet Explorer) I must say i like this spell checker thing... Instead of having to click on the Google one i downloaded.
Don't drink the water. They put something in it.To make you forget.I don't even remember how I got here.
Get the bork bork bork theme >:D
Bork Bork Bork add on makes me laugh.
Adblock plus is great. I block everything that is annoying, such as the adverts on the top of FP.
What adverts? Yeah i guess Adblock is good.
My friend switched to day to Internet explorer makes steam crash when you send links to each other. It's stupid.
And what is the big difference
1) Open internet explorer 2) Go to www.crashie.com 3) Open firefox 4) Go to www.crashie.com 5) Observe the difference, this is a fun experiment for all to try.
Fuck firefox. Fuck you. Welcome to Opera bitchez!!!
You said the IE word! :crying:
Hey guys, Mozilla released FireFox 3 Beta 3 today and it's hell of fast. It features a new theme for Mac users (I added a screenshot), better Linux/Mac integration, major speed improvements, memory usage reduction, and thousands of more changes (approximately 1,300). Comparing this browser to Safari, it's a lot faster. FireFox has a "snappier" feeling, the pages load all at once and very quickly. Here's the new theme FireFox 3 Beta 3 uses under Mac OS X. at least that "memory usage reduction" - thing is more than welcome. My newest FULL version takes almost 300mb of memory, when like.. 4 pages are open.
Has it fixed the thing where it deletes all your bookmarks and cookies? That was the reason I switched to Opera. If it's fixed I might go back.
I have four tabs open, and it is using 92.82MB of RAM. Here's a picture: Tabs open: FacePunch, Digg (was loading page), Youtube, PearlDrummersForum The 3.5 represents how much CPU-usage there is, the 20 represents the number of threads it is using.
Isn't Safari faster than firefox? Or is that just firefox 2?

Yeah I meant that FireFox isn't using much RAM, it's nicer. I remember older versions of FireFox would use over 100MB with just one tab opened, Beta 3 uses much less.
Isn't Safari faster than firefox? Or is that just firefox 2?
For me FireFox 2 and Safari are about the same speed, but FireFox 3 is a lot faster compared to Safari.

Can I switch back if it fucks up my Firefox?
You still have original FireFox. It's just now you have a different Beta version too. Edit: Also, it looks more "open" now on screen.
Can I switch back if it fucks up my Firefox?
I don't see why not :3:
Speed is all that matters.
I don't like the back button. It's big and pixelated for me. But apart from that, it's an improvement.
Safari feels faster to me and I like the way the text looks, so I'm sticking with that. It's good to see firefox improving all the time though, I just hope that it continues getting more and more users so Microsoft will start to innovate internet explorer.
I have been using the portable version and it starts up a lot faster than Firefox 2 and the page loading has been slightly faster. Posted using Firefox 3 Beta 3.
If you have linux you could have gotten it 2 days ago
Is this the version that fixes the 800mb memory usage and the 70% cpu usage when idle?
Does anyone know how to get all bookmarks etc. from Firefox 2 to Firefox 3? I tried looking for them but i do not have a clue where to look.
