Fuck this I'm downgrading. Ya know what this reminds me of? x1
I have vista and it works fine.
It's looking good, only problem is a lot of the addons don't work with it.
What do you expect? It's a new version. New versions break old addons.
Does this version address the issue where Firefox eats all my fucking RAM? 2 tabs, both could be Google, and it'd jump to like 200MB. Fuck.
If you are one of the people who are so fucking goddamn shitfaced about RAM usage, then quit bitching your ass off and try this neat trick to make Firefox use tiny amounts of RAM, around 5-30Mb when minimized, it will grow after minimized though but to a maximum of around 60Mb. I thought it was just a cheap-ass rip off of a tweak when I first came across it but then I thought "who the fuck worries about RAM usage when their browser window is actually maximized as long as it doesn't go sluggish and crash like a whore?". So here goes... 1. Open Firefox and go to the Address Bar. Type in about:config and then press Enter. 2. Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean. 3. In the box that pops up enter config.trim_on_minimize. Press Enter. 4. Now select True and then press Enter. 5. Restart Firefox.
Very cool, listen to this man.
I just downloaded it. It works quite nicely. As for a speed increase, I can't really say, as I'm on 56k. :(
I have vista and it works fine.
Yeah, just fucking with you Vista users. x1
Wait... What the heck... They removed the HomePage button?
Go to the bookmarks toolbar, right-click near the address bar & click "Customize", and then just drag the home button next to the stop button. That was driving me crazy until I figured it out.
Yeah, I am running 4 tabs with only 80MB of ram use.
I just downloaded it. It looks fantastic and seems a bit faster. 8.5 out of 10 from me.
I have vista and it works fine.
Don't fix the stupid, it's to hard.
Yeah, I am running 4 tabs with only 80MB of ram use.
That Nightly Tester Tools which makes things work isn't compatible :sigh:
Just downloaded it and I'm impressed. It's really fast and cut it's memory usage in half. Some of my addons didn't work though :(
How did you get 4Chan up there next to Bookmarks?
It's a plugin. http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/
This thing is damn sexy.
God dammit. one tab and firefox uses 93,880 K
Part of this just really gets on my nerves, Whenever I open the address bar to see the links I have been to, they list the name of the page and the web address, taking up a lot of space that would be better used with just plain old grey addresses.
:D! Wait, I mean, :raise:
Strange. I'm using 2.0 and it only uses 90mb with 10 tabs open.
Mabey I might actually switch from IE7. I've never switched to FF2 (even though I do have it on my PC and use it occasionally) simply because I've never felt the need to. Also, I hate FireFox's download system (probibly can be changed though), how it loads web-pages (IE7 loads the image sizes first for most websites so your page doesn't jump around while it's loading), and that it always was just slower.
All my plugins and themes were updated so they're working now :4chan:
Shit it got rid of my megaupload toolbar which gave me free unlimited porn on megarotic :'(
Whoa this is awesome. So much faster, and thank god, Adblock Plus works!
So if I download and install it, will it take all my compatible stuff and passwords from this Firefox install?
Yes to addons and stuff, not so sure about passwords.
How did you get 4Chan up there next to Bookmarks?
4chan extension.
Uh guys... WHY DO I NOT HAVE A BACK BUTTON?!
I'm not even on the beta and I have 66mb ram usage with 7 tabs open. why is there serious posts in the gmf welp
I've used the nightlies for a while now (Minefield). Really good, it's like 1000 times faster than Firefox 2 on Linux & Mac. Also it uses native controls instead of some really fucking ugly ones (like in forms). Edit: Might as well post a screenshot of the Mac version which looks a lot better than the old one... The reason for the small HDD is because I've partitioned it: 50% is for Linux. But I'm probably removing that so I can run it in a virtual machine instead or so (I really fancy using the touchpad, which isn't nice in Linux)
It's a plugin. http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/
Cool. Thanks.
If there are any extensions that aren't working in 3.0, you can actually open the extension file with winrar/7zip/etc and edit it in notepad (There's one line that states the maximum Firefox version. I don't remember what file it's in.)
I'm using Firefox 2 and having 7 tabs open only uses 64MB.
