at least that "memory usage reduction" - thing is more than welcome.
My newest FULL version takes almost 300mb of memory, when like.. 4 pages are open.
That used to annoy me so much, it does not seem to happen anymore though...
No, wait. I like it.

It's just that the Homepage button is gone.

Otherwise it looks good.
Edit:
Holy shit. Why does it use 84MB?

You can add the Homepage button via Customize. I'm surprised nobody has figured that out yet.

I can't find the homepage button really.
Check your bookmarks toolbar.
Anyway, Firefox 3 is progressing nicely, still much slower than Safari on my mac though (At least they are using Quartz via Cairo now, beats QuickDraw)
Firefox 3 uses EXACTLY the same amount of memory as Firefox 2. It just looks sexier.

QuickDraw? That's part of Classic! Seriously, are you still using OS 9, or something?
It's meant to be 1 more beta after this one, then the full thing.
QuickDraw is still in OS X, has been since it's release (as an easy transition to Quartz)
Gecko used QuickDraw, when it moved to Cairo it got the ability to use Quartz (which speeds up drawing and looks better)
HOLY SHITFUCK!
 I got an animated avater
Firefox 3 Beta required to see it.

No it doesn't you obviously know nothing.
No it doesn't you obviously know nothing.
I checked with both versions, today, just before and after I installed Firefox 3. Both used 66MB of memory.
No need to be an asshole.
I'm not even on the beta and I have 66mb ram usage with 7 tabs open. why is there serious posts in the gmf welp
It's never immediate, but after a while the RAM usage slowly builds. It's like it doesn't release the RAM after I close a tab. It's been on every machine i've used FF on.

It's slower than Safari for you? Seems about the same or a little faster for me, are you using an Intel or PowerPC Mac? Maybe that's why.

Really? Dang. I haven't played around with Carbon much.

Really? Seems more like an IDE issue to me...
Will my addons still work on this update?
For me they do, only StumbleUpon, Firebug and Imagebot didn't like it.
Also, animated avatar trick ahoy!

Edit:
I actually don't like it.
oh and last note.
It's still beta. I am sure all addons will be updated for the real release.
I can't be bothered until it's finished, because the addons will probably break
I might install it tomorrow anyway but I'm ill now :(
5 tabs - 92mb
How did you do the avatar trick? :q:

Yeah, they've really improved memory usage.
